Next stop: nevería

Next we went to Plaza de Las Nieves for a dessert stop. A “nevería” is a traditional Mexican ice cream shop, specializing in “nieves,” which are Mexican-style ice creams and sorbets. Unlike regular ice cream, “nieves” are typically fruit-based and have a lighter, more granular texture. They come in a wide range of flavors, many of which reflect local fruits and traditional Mexican cuisine.

Here we have the Oaxaca cheese one, the coconut one and a milky one.

It’s a must-visit for anyone exploring the lesser-known gems of Oaxaca.

We also tried one with prickly pear (also known as “tuna” in Spanish) and it tastes really good!
