I’ve been receiving strange comments lately. Take a look, this one tells me to drink urine:

Spam just got more interesting. I had a lot more spam then in the past. I used to have Bad Behavior but I disabled the plugin as I myself got banned in my blog which is just as embarrassing as you getting locked out of your own house. But I really missed Bad Behavior plugin. It just worked so well last time. It cut my spam by 30-50% I think. A much better way than endorsing a spammer’s address.

Akismet has caught 71,196 spam for me since I first installed it.

Ahh, WordPress 2.3 Beta 1 (download link) has been released for anyone who dares to try it out. I tried it out a little a month ago (the then Alpha) and it’s pretty stable though I won’t recommend beta products for production purposes. WordPress 2.3 is due for release on September 24th.

The main features that you should look out for:

• Tags - Yes! They didn’t made it for WordPress 2.2 but they’re here in 2.3. Hope tags will see light in 2.3 Final.
• Faster JavaScript - Yay! I welcome that definately.
• Plugin and core update notification - Not really useful unless it comes with auto-update but it’s definately a step forward.

Do give it some testings and you can feedback to the kind WordPress guys.

I have been running into troubles logging in to WordPress and was kinda frustrated all morning.

Basically each time I use tried to log in, I get:

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

I could not edit the blog, nothing works except the front page. I did a couple of searches at Google but the solutions didn’t seem to work for me.

In the end, I did a new installation of WordPress and scrutinized every damn thing in the users and usermeta table between a database that worked and a database that doesn’t.

Did you change the prefix of your table names in WordPress after the migration?

Okay I have a lot of spam comments and trackbacks(65,661 to be exact), I usually scan them through in a weekly basis and press the delete button. My blog current has 4,666 legitimate comments and trackbacks. I get 13 times more spam than I get comments. Thanks a lot spammers.

Well, there’s a whole lot more but many are just repeats of a similar format. This blog is protect by Akismet comment and trackback spam filter and most of the comment and trackback spam are quarantined. Unfortunately there are some false positives occasionally so I look through the spam once in a while to save those comments. If you haven’t got Akismet, you really should!

Now every time I tried to blog through Digg, I encounter this error message. It is probably something to do with my WordPress XMLPRC file but I overwritten it again and it still didn’t work.

I am kinda stuck already. It’s so easy to blog through Digg and it’s unfortunate that I can’t do so anymore. I am using WordPress 2.2.1, it’s the latest version of WordPress. Blogging via Digg used to work before I upgraded from WordPress 2.2 to WordPress 2.2.1. It just stop working after that upgrade.

WordPress 2.2.1 is made available and //beconfused is going down for a while just to do some updates. Just down for a minute I hope. See you!

Since 2.2 was released a month ago, the WordPress community has been improving fit-and-finish by identifying and fixing those little bugs that can be so annoying and by fine-tuning some small details.
