Steve Jobs does get kinda longwinded at times. If not for the cool products Apple is to introduce, the audience would have left. Veronica summarizes the Steve Jobs 90 minute keynotes into 60 seconds and has everything you want to know - the Apple MacBook Air.
Steve Jobs Macworld 2008 Keynote in 60 Seconds
Yeah, actually that’s the only interesting thing in MacWorld in my opinion. The rest are kinda like the usual upgrades. Nothing really special.
I do love it when Apple really push technology and design to its limits. Love the look of MacBook Air and I can imagine a lot more competition coming up, all fighting to make mobile computing more mobile. MacBook Air is everything good except for its price.
The Gizmodo staffer violated the terms of CES media credentials and caused harm to CES exhibitors. This Gizmodo staffer has been identified and will be barred from attending any future CES events. Additional sanctions against Gizmodo and Gawker Media are under discussion.
What Gizmodo did was to go around with this remote control and switch off the display sets. They disrupted a Motorola presentation, some gaming event and a lot of televisions on display. This is journalism at its worst. CES did what’s right to bar them from attending future CES event.
It’s a terrible prank and caused trouble from both attendees and exhibitors. I’m kinda disappointed when I saw the video of Gizmodo staffers switching off the televisions sets with a remote. Old prank and it wasn’t funny in my opinion.
Earlier this evening Bill Gates gave his final Microsoft keynote at the 2008 CES show in Las Vegas. Throughout the keynote he made many references to what he will do with his free time once he retires from day to day operations at Microsoft. It turns out, Bill has big plans in addition to his foundation after all.
Bill Gates Last Day CES Clip
He seems like such a loser in the video. He’s probably a little stiff in the film but the short film works out right and all the cameos made me laughed. There’s Bono, Obama, Al Gore, Jon Stewart and others. Looks like he’s having fun.
Last Friday I went to the PC Show held in Suntec Convention Center. I carefully picked Friday since Thursday is a public holiday (Vesak Day) and Saturday Sunday is just weekends. I don’t want to go there when it is crowded you know.
I went with about 6 friends all aiming to purchase different things. I realize the hottest selling thing is probably storage disk, storage media and RAMs. I don’t think they are that cheap but everyone’s excited over storage cards. I wonder why would people need so much SD cards.
I purchased a printer, the HP Photosmart C5100. It’s quite affordable at SG$279 with a SG$50 voucher. And with trade in of my non-functioning printer, I get an additional SG$50.
Above is the printer. Can you name all the items on my table?
There aren’t really any special stuff asides the usual showgirls. Sony brought some people to do Brazilian dance or something. The Brazilian dancers shake here and there and patroled the entrances of the PC Show. It was seemingly good treat to the photographers. They’re snapping happily and the Sony girls were looking really good. And at the end of the dance routine, they unveil a scroll that has some Sony promotion which look awfully ridiculous and they shouted “Sony!”
I was stunned for a moment and the other girl shouted “Sony!” and they continued parading to the next entrance announcing “Sony!” every few shakes. My heart just died a little. Sony!
During the IT Show on March, I actually acquired this little device for myself - a SanDisk Cruzer Titanium USB Flash Drive. (Most of the Singaporeans refer to a flash drive as “thumb drive”.) It’s 4GB and it transfer things at quite a good speed. I especially love the way it looks.
I have yet to start using it but I am starting to populate it with those portable applications. The SanDisk Cruzer Titanium also supports U3. Very nice.
There’s an IT Show today (from Thursday to Sunday actually) so it might just be a good time to buy that external harddisk that you wished Santa fall last Christmas.
I might be getting a couple of gadgets this IT Show:
Flash drives - I’m getting one from SanDisk. I’ll snap a picture if I manage to buy one.
External harddisk - My brother wants one of these. If it’s affordable, I buy one of these too.
Laser Printer - I felt like having a laser printer. I don’t really like to read from the monitor all the time you know.
Earphones - Shure is there I heard. I’ll check out their canal phones, if they’re affordable, I may just buy it. But it’s Shure, so… probably not.
I’ll be going with my camp mates. I felt like I ORD already actually. Days left says 93. That’s about 3 months more and time will fly real quick on the month of March.
