This came at such a wrong time, but it appears that in order to cater to the growth of //beconfused, I may need to order more hosting. I’m now looking for hosting with the following specifications:
- At least 1GB of space (I only use 300MB now actually)
- 50GB/month Bandwidth (I’m hitting 20GB/month)
- Generally good reliability
My host currently gives me 20GB/month but it is not going to last this month! I’m willing to pay no more than US$20 per month, I’m trying to keep my hosting fees low, any suggestions?
Also, I would greatly encourage people who use feeds to use FeedBurner instead of WordPress’ feeds:
 Subscribe in a reader

[Update: I pulled off some video clips to save bandwidth. Gomen gomen!]
It has come to my notice that a few of my friends has found my web site. It wasn’t my intention to let too many people know about this. Just read and don’t spread that I have a blog.

I’ll tell more people when I’m ready.
Thank you so much!
It’s really annoying, I receive about 100 spam comments per day and I am not at all proud of it. Something ought to be done. I have Akismet which is a spam filter and to date, it has caught 55,734 spam comments. But I keep going through my moderation list so as to not miss out people’s comments.
A couple of legitimate comments does get caught once in a while. Maybe they should add spam into the school syllabus or something. We have CME in secondary school I remember. It’s Civics and Moral Education. It’s pretty outdated during my time and they spend much of the syllabus trying to tell you what type of festivals the Indians go to then discuss the technology-related issues.
I thought some time might be allocated to discuss about plagiarism, intellectual property, spam, Windows Live Messenger nudges, forwarding emails with curses and stuff. Maybe some internet related issues may be covered at school.
Okay, I am trying out some stuff. I don’t know if the advertisement would actually work out. I signed up for a new advertisement provider and I placed the advertisement rigth at the bottom. It probably wouldn’t be profitable if I place it there but heck I’ll just do some testing and if it’s really that good, I may give it a more prominent location.
Google Ads are doing okay supporting my blog. It doesn’t cost a lot to maintain my blog so the Google advertisements kinda covers my web hosting fees quite well with a tiny bit of excess that can buy me a nice book from Borders. Sometimes, people click on quality links and I earn well on that day. Sometimes, it’s just no earnings for the day. I guess I still have yet to figure how the whole advertising payment thing actually works.
With an improved editor, image uploader, security features, and more. Nice polish added to already great blogging software.
A list of features:
* Autosaving posts
* Lossless XML import and export
* Editor now includes a spellchecker
* Allows you to mark your blog as private blog
* Allows you to choose any page to be your front page (my favorite feature!)
* Links are just redone. Now with category and cooler looks.
* Image upload manager (my second favorite feature!)
I used to upload with FileZilla and it’s really quite overkill. I mean, all I wanted to do is to upload a photograph and I do it through FileZilla because I didn’t like the way WordPress used to place my images. Download WordPress 2.1. I’m upgrading all the blogs to 2.1 now. It’s pretty stable since the beta actually so there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

*Edit:* Yay! Upgrade complete.
I’m quite sick of looking at my old theme - Lintfree. So I decided to update the look and feel of this blog. It’s more like an interim theme and will be here for around 6 months till I ORD. The new theme is called “Cleancut”.

_(The previous //beconfused theme - Lintfree.)_
Lintfree hasn’t been updated since a really long time and it began to show it’s age when portions of the theme refuses to work in the upcoming WordPress release. That was when I realize it’s time to perform a overhaul in the look and feel.
Some changes:
* Web site width changed to 900 px instead of the previous 770 px. More and more people are using 1024 x 768 these days so it shouldn’t be a problem. I am using 1440 x 900 so web site width of 770 px turns out surprising torturing.
* Removed the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin completely and used WordPress’s categories instead. I want to decrease reliance on third party plugins. All my posts are updated accordingly.
* Optimize it for search engines like Google - site maps and more
* I’m using WordPress Widgets finally. I included this huge ORD counter widget to compute my days to freedom.
* Images are larger now, at around 550 px. This enables me to include better resolution images.
I hope you guys like the new look. Please give comments if you guys have any.
In true nerd fashion, I was absolutely thrilled to see this:

(Bad Behavior has blocked 539 access attempts in the past 7 days.)
I just installed Bad Behavior plugin two days ago. It’s working well and as you can see, I am in more mood to blog now.
