There has been a really bad moment where my database instance went corrupted. I lost some recent data, particularly comments in this blog. I tried all ways to fix the issue but can’t. The only way would be to input all the missing comments manually which would be quite a challenge.
I have moved to a better server. This time, I’m at Rackspace Cloud. It’s a carefully made decision and I hope this website will serve you better in time to come.

You must have heard of all sorts of household remedies to address to some of the most common problems. Early this year (February 17, 2004), Hua Ming send me an email to discuss some of them.
- Cure for headaches:
Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go. - Use of Soap Wrapper:
Don’t throw away the wrapper after removing a bar of soap. Place it inside your shoe cabinet or shoe box. It is a cheap way to fill the air with a nice smell. - Are your shoes smelly?
Here’s a solution….. Put some tea eaves into a pair of stockings, stuff each into a shoe. Leave for a day or two and the smell just vanishes! - Tips for stamp collectors:
Place the envelope in the freezer for a few hours. You’ll then able to lift the stamp off the envelope. - To keep buttons from dropping off:
Dab a drop of clear nail polish onto the thread that secures the button. This will harden and make it more difficult for the thread to break off. - Are cockroaches in your home driving u mad?
Try this tested trick. Fill a large bowl with cheap wine and leave it under the sink. The pests will drink it, fall in the bowl and drown. Easy ! - Avoid hurting fingers while hammering metal nails into the wall:
Hold the nails with a wooden clothes peg instead. So even if u miss, u won’t get hurt. - To get rid of itch from mosquito bite:
Try applying soap on the area – instant relief. - Ants, ants, ants, everywhere :
Well, they are said to never cross a chalk line. So get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor – see for yourself. - Don’t panic if your soup’s too salty:
Add cut raw potatoes and throw them away once they are cooked as they have absorbed the salt. Your soup is saved! - Use air-freshner to clean mirrors:
It does a good job and better still, gives a lovely smell to the Shine. - If u have problems with slippery shoelaces which refuse to stay:
Rub them with a candle and make them less slippery so that the knot stays put. - If u have stubborn grease stains onyour work clothes:
Add a bottle of Coke with detergent. It’ll help loosen the grease. - Dirty marks on your white court shoes:
Just add some medicated oil on a piece of cloth and clean off the dirty marks on your shoe. They’ll be looking as new again.
When I saw this email, I kept it and tell myself to try some of these some day. However, I never did try. I think some of them are really true. I’m kinda busy these days you see, perhaps you people can do the trying and tell me about it, hahaa.
