There are many reasons to let geeks work the way they want to work. Today they work in every industry. They are the knowledge base, blood and sweat equity of many businesses. They work harder than most. They work longer than most. Their job isn’t a separate â??thing they doâ? while they look forward to going home and relaxing. Geeks live what they do.
Take a read on the article, you’ll realize that most of the people probably want to have that kind of job, geek or not. It’s probably written by a geek who wants that as a desired working environment is trying to make employers grant them that, hahaa… I’ll like to have those benefits in work too!
She was 43kg; after one sitting she became 50kg. She’s Natsuko Sone is a petite 21-year-old. She can eat 183 pieces of sushi in half an hour and down 20 pounds of food in one sitting.
Presented with a gigantic bowl on a weekly variety show, Sone says, “I can eat this easily!” The human food vacuum takes a pair of chopsticks and digs into the 20-pound tub of curry, noodles and rice. For the next hour, the crowd looks on as her slender hand carries giant gobs of food from bowl to mouth. When asked how she’s doing, she simply says: “This is delicious!”
Watch how she eats. It’s good to do some skipping, I don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.
Gal Sone gained 7 kg
Sone is better known as “Gal” Sone for her bleached chestnut hair, high-pitched staccato voice, thick makeup and girlie fashion, which make her a thoroughly trendy Tokyo “gal.”
Nazanin Fatehi was sentenced to death a year ago, on 3 January 2006, after admitting having stabbed to death one of three men who tried to rape her and a 16-year-old relative. She was 17 at the time.
The pop singer and former Miss Canada Nazanin Afshin-Jam learnt of her case and has since become the figurehead of the campaign to have her freed. “The injustice of the story horrified me,” said Ms Afshin-Jam, the runner-up to the 2003 Miss World title who left Iran when she was two. “I couldn’t believe that a victim of attempted rape was being charged as a criminal.”
According to the Iranian daily newspaper Etemaad, Ms Fatehi and her niece were in a park in Karaj, just outside of Tehran, with their boyfriends when they were approached by three men. The boys fled after the men pushed the girls to the floor. Ms Fatehi then drew a knife and stabbed one man in the arm and another in the chest, killing him.
If she had allowed the men to rape her and her niece, the girls would have been subjected to 100 lashes under Iranian laws on chastity. If they had been married at the time they were raped they would likely have been found guilty of adultery and sentenced to death by stoning.
It’s so ironical here. While it’s wrong to kill a man (or a woman of course), the poor girl did so in self defense. The death sentence seems unjustified.
I just watch The Host (Korean title: Gwoemul), a Korean film that involves all the actors and directors I don’t know. It’s directed by Joon-ho Bong. I do not watch much Korean films but this one is said to be really good.
(Poster for The Host or Gwoemul.)
So I sat through the 2-hour movie wishing it was just an hour. The Host attempts to incorporate several genres. It has action, comedy, science fiction, thriller and possibly more. The actors are quite good, but I am not really comfortable with their facial expressions sometimes, they seem too exaggerated in a couple of scenes.
The plot is almost terrible. The Host is based on an actual event, I shall quote directly from IMDB.
Did you know?
The event described in the beginning of Gwoemul is based on an actual event. In February 2000 in a US military facility located in the center of Seoul, US military civilian employee Mr. McFarland ordered to dispose formaldehyde into the sewer system leading to Han River despite the objection of a Korean subordinate. Korean government attempted to prosecute Mr. McFarland in Korean court but US military refused to hand over the custody of Mr. McFarland to the Korean legal system. Later, a Korean judge convicted Mr. McFarland in absentia. Public enraged at the Korean government’s inability to enforce its law on its own soil. In 2005, nearly five years after the original incident, Mr. McFarland was finally found guilty in Korean court in his presence. He never served the actual prison sentence, however. No sighting of mutant creature has been reported in Han River, yet.
The chemicals caused a mutant and led to this gigantic mudskipper-kinda creature. It’s huge and it grabs the main character’s daughter. Believing that his daughter is still alive, the family went to look for her in hopes of saving her.
What is commendable is the computer graphics. It is one of the better ones in an Asian film and it actually didn’t look that fake. It is overhyped, and I have to admit that I’m disappointed. For bad plot and surprising graphical achievements, I rate the movie 3 out of 5 stars.

*Legendary singer James Brown dies at 73*
James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured “Godfather of Soul,” whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a giant of R&B and an inspiration for rap, funk and disco, died early Christmas morning. He was 73.
“He was dramatic to the end â?? dying on Christmas Day,” said the Rev.
Jesse Jackson, a friend of Brown’s since 1955. “Almost a dramatic, poetic moment. He’ll be all over the news all over the world today. He would have it no other way.”
