The Office Season 4 - Launch Party
I think this sort of occurred to me before too. I was just looking, just waiting patiently - and it touched the corner and bounced back. I was so excited for like 2 seconds.

Due to a bug found in Microsoft Excel 2007, certain sets of multiplication is being displayed incorrectly to the user.
I heard this is some old floating point bug.

850 * 77.1 supposed to result in 65535. Unfortunately, Excel 2007 displays it as 100,000.
Only specific sets of multiplication is affected. Hope a patch would arrive soon though.

Nothing beats a juicy gossip about your colleagues.
Meanwhile, though this is old news - Bill Gates plans to make Microsoft his part time job to focus more in Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Good for him. He plans to make the move on July 2008. I wonder how would Microsoft be like without Gates as the Chief Software Architect. Replacing Gates would be Ray Ozzie. You can read Bill Gates email to his employer below.
*Email from Bill Gates to employees*
I’ve decided that two years from now, in July 2008, I want to devote more time to the work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Right now and for the next two years, my full-time job is here at Microsoft, and my part-time job remains the Foundation. Beginning in July 2008, I will switch that, to be full-time at the Foundation, while remaining involved with Microsoft as Chairman and an advisor on key development projects on a part-time basis.
On a personal note, I know that my work on global health and education issues at the Foundation would never have been possible without the enormous success of Microsoft, so I want to thank you and all of the employees past and present who have contributed so much to this company.
For these last 31 years, I’ve had the best job in the world. I’ve worked with some of the brightest and most passionate people in the world. Together, we’ve built a great company whose products have empowered people around the world.

Well, I can’t understand why’s this a good time to announce leaving the company. Many exciting products are going to be released in a year’s time. That would include the Windows Live platform of web applications, Windows Vista, Exchange, 2007 Office System and .NET Framework 3.0. So many products and he’s leaving after these stuff are being released.

Looks like PDF won’t be include the upcoming version of 2007 Microsoft Office System. It’s kinda disappointing for me actually. It’s one of the more anticipated features of 2007 Microsoft Office System.
WSJ: Microsoft Expects Adobe to File Antitrust Suit
Microsoft Corp. said it expected Adobe Systems Inc. to file an antitrust suit in Europe after talks to use Adobe’s technology broke down this week, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The two companies have been in discussions over the use of Adobe’s Portable Document Format, or PDF, within Microsoft’s Office suite of applications, the Journal reported, quoting Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith.
Adobe wants Microsoft to remove the feature and offer Adobe’s technology separately for a fee. Microsoft has agreed to remove the feature, but is unwilling to charge for it, the Journal reported.
In February, Adobe Chief Executive Bruce Chizen told Reuters he considered Microsoft to be the company’s biggest concern. “The competitor I worry about most is Microsoft,” Chizen said at the time.
Adobe’s PDF technology lets producers create and distribute documents digitally that retain designs, pictures and formatting.

Perhaps Microsoft XML Paper Specification (XPS) may grow popular due to this. I tried the XPS viewer actually and it’s surprising good. I mean it doesn’t have those features that Adobe Acrobat Reader has. And that’s a blessing. Oh my god, more than half of the Acrobat Reader features are crap. XPS viewer is lightweight and has none of those crap. I hope Microsoft won’t add any more crap to XPS. If you have the XPS viewer, try pressing Ctrl+T on your keyboard and watch the nice little animation of your pages becoming thumbnails. You can click on the thumbnail to go to a particular page.
