The Apple iPhone has been released in US

Uncategorized

The Apple iPhone has been released! Check out some of the pictures I have found from Engadget.

The Apple iPhone removed from the box.

This is the side view of the Apple iPhone. It’s not the thinnest but I like Apple’s attempt to make it look thin. It does look pretty thin from the sides. I feel like touching one now.

The behind of Apple iPhone.

This is what you see when you flip your Apple iPhone behind. It’s got a really shiny Apple logo that doubles up as a mirror so you can stare into the Apple logo and find yourself in it. Apple has you in the iPhone, be hypnotize by Apple.

It has maps too. I think it uses Google Earth.

This probably uses the Google Earth maps. But it does look very functional. It would be cool to have mapping features on the phone although I don’t particularly find satellite maps very useful. A normal vector map would be better. I think it should be in the iPhone too.

iPhone just got released in the USA hours ago. It probably won’t be coming to Singapore so Singaporeans would probably go for Meizu phones. It does look nice to have though.

The iPhone is quite costly though – US$499 for a 4GB, US$599 for a 8GB both with 2-year Cingular phone plan contracts. That works out to be SG$763 and SG$ 917 respectively (using conversion rate US$1 = SG$1.53100) and Only Cingular carries iPhone.

Engadget did an unboxing hours ago and took lots of pictures and shared it online. So check them out yeah?

Introduce the Microsoft Windows Mobile oFone

Uncategorized

Just before Apple rolls out iPhone, someone released a video introducing Microsoft oFone.

Probably the worst product you would ever see in the market and the people carrying it are probably all losers. At least it’s something funny. I’m not sure if Microsoft endorses the idea of this oFone video but I can definately imagine those guys at Apple getting all jealous.

Are you blogging sensitively?

Uncategorized

I was reading New Paper and something caught my attention, the news is a little old already, hahaa…

There was this girl, Debra koh (14), who drown last week in the Sungei Pandan canal. She was with 3 other classmates and it was raining. They placed all their cellphones into a bag. They were tossing their bag around when the bag with their phones fell into the canal. Debra and her friends tried to recover the bag. Debra Koh drowned while attempting to recover the bag.

But I’m not here to talk much about Debra since this incident is quite dated already. A blogger who calls herself Tian Tian blogged that Debra deserves to die. She also claims that Debra whacked her previously and was a trouble-maker. This insensitive act comes with a punishment; she was confronted by 20 teens, kicked and slapped 20 times according to the New Paper report.

Always be careful of what you blog about and be sensitive. Some people treat blogging like writing an entry in the diary. You can be as egoistic, self centered and insensitive about everyone in your diary but you can’t do the same for blogging. When you blog, what you’re doing is publishing text online for anyone who may find your website. At least be sensitive to religions, races, misfortunes and so on, it’s kinda like basic blogging etiquette.

There are things that I swore I would not blog much about:

# Religion. Too sensitive. I’m a Christian but I do not want to get myself involved in religion disputes.
# Races. Very serious offence locally (Singapore that is). If you have a racist joke, think twice before publishing it.
# Real friends. I do not want to make too much mention of friends because I felt it’s invading their privacy. I learnt lessons the hard way.
# Regional politics. Well, you know what I mean, hahaa… I don’t want to comment on regional politics, it’s messy and might just get you into trouble if you get the facts wrong.
# Rants. I think the internet is full of junk already and ranting about not being able to get tickets for a sold-out concert – well, it’s just too insignificant. No one online would be interested in your rants.

So be careful guys. Blog smartly and sensitively.

Side note: Tian Tian removed the offending post and replace it with an apology. My condolences to Debra Koh.

China demands standardized cellphone chargers

Uncategorized

China demands standardized cellphone chargers! It’s one demand that makes perfect sense. One of my annoyances during national service is to forget my charge and no one has my phone’s charger!

I am using a Samsung phone and it’s so unique that other Samsung phone users don’t have my charger too. There should have standardized it damn long ago. It would be great if it uses the small USB port for charging. Charging from a computer would be a whole lot easier.

Unified chargers for all cell phones in China

Cell phone manufacturers will have to implant unified access on one side the chargers that can be connected to all brands of cell phones, the People’s Daily said on its Website, citing a standard issued by China’s Ministry of Information Industry yesterday.

The access is close to the principle of a Universal Serial Bus (USB), said the report.

“The standard will stop the waste of cell phone chargers dating back to the time when a charger could serve only one brand of cell phone, or even one type of phone in the brand,” said an official with the ministry.

“It will also lower the cost of cell phones and reduce electronic waste,” the official said.

I hope Singapore would adopt this too.

This is a commercial for Boost Mobile, yo, and it’s like funny and I laughed.

[Direct link]

It’s like so amazing that they find all these cool people to gather for a party ya know. Hell ya! Ten kinds of nasty.

I love the final lines where they say, “Boost Mobile. Designed for young people. But it’s just more fun showing old people.” Watch it with an open mind, it’s actually pretty funny.

Cell Phones Found Inside Four Prisoners

Capt. Juan Ramon Arevalo, director of the Zacatras prison, said the gang members had introduced the cell phones, wrapped in plastic bags, into their bodies through their anuses. The phones were relatively small – about as long as an adult forefinger.

Authorities also found nine cell phone chips, each slightly larger than a fingernail, and one charger.

“Each one had a cellular with a number of chips,” Arevalo said, adding that one also had hidden a charger in his anal cavity.

And how did they escape from detection for so long? Well, the phones might just be set to – ahem – vibration mode. Think twice before buying a used handphone, hahaa…
