I was looking at some of my friend’s Windows Live Messenger personal messages. Most people have all those inspiring quotation said by God-knows-who. It really doesn’t matter, it beats putting lame shit like some long Chinese lyrics that is so long and got cut due to Live Messenger’s character limit. And I can’t even understand half of what the Chinese quotation is about, it probably is a song, probably is a senseless lament about love. Matters little.
Some friends come and go, only true friends leave footprint etched deeply into the heart. Thanks for being one!
Nicely said.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
Quote by Lucius Annaeus Seneca that I don’t quite agree on. True luck is when opportunity comes without preparation. Hahaa…
FRIENDS: 2 (maybe +1) | CLOSE FRIENDS: 3 , identifying in process… am i such a failure in life or is it the world???
Erm… Okay, kinda strange. Let’s see some others.
Spending an inordinate amount of time romancing the impossible.
Okay.
“Silence can be a expression of love” - Chika Umino, Honey and Clover season 2, epsiode 2.
The above personal message actually has a citation longer than its quotation. It’s almost like Harvard referencing style. Where is the year dude?
“Love doesn’t make the world go round, Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” - Franklin P. Jones
Ridzuan has this. I stole the quote from him. And he, erm, borrowed it from someone.
“We know accurately only when we know little. With knowledge, doubt increases.” - Goethe
That’s my previous personal message before I stole Ridzuan’s.
The ads are simply too big. I can imagine Windows Live Hotmail looking much prettier with the removal of the ad on the top. I’m okay with ads but when the designer is planning for the application, at least take in consideration how the website would look like with an advertisement.
One look at Hotmail tells me how much advertising revenue mean to Microsoft. They are probably trying to get people to upgrade to their paid plans. I like the whole Live service bar idea but let that be on top, not ads.
This explains why I spend so little time at Windows Live Hotmail even though that supposed to be my primary mail address that’s for work.
Yay, who doesn’t like new software - Windows Live Messenger 8.5 is released through the Windows Live Suite. Windows Live Suite is Microsoft’s new unified installer. You can select what you want to install through their webpage. Here is a screenshot:
(Windows Live Messenger 8.5 screenshot.)
Windows Live Suite products include:
Mail: Multiple e-mail accounts on your desktop
Messenger: Connect, share, and make every conversation count
Photo Gallery (Beta): Organize and share photos and videos
Writer: Easily publish rich content to your blog
Toolbar: Search from any Web page
OneCare Family Safety: Help protect your kids online
I only installed Windows Live Messenger, Photo Gallery and Writer. I’m just not interested in the others I guess. I kinda got it for the sake of Live Messenger actually, love the sleek new interface.
Make sure that you do not have Live Messenger or Internet Explorer running when you do the installation. Mine fails as Live Messenger is running.
[NOTE: The above link is a public beta. It is not clearly labeled and I misunderstood it. Windows Live Suite Public Beta includes the Windows Live Messenger 8.5 Beta 2 it seems. However, no where in the product seems to suggest that this is a beta.]
This is something for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya fans. SOS!
Watch Hirano Aya (Suzumiya Haruhi), Chihara Minori (Nagato Yuki), Goto Yuki (Asahina Mikuru) lip syncs to Hare Hare Yukai. They dance quite true to the one in the anime. I think it’s very well done! Hare Hare Yukai become one of Japan’s hottest dance songs after the debut in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou - Hare Hare Yukai (plus encore)
And Hirano Aya wants to ask you, “did you cum twice?” So she wore a shirt to say that. It’s funny watching her sing with that shirt. I’m sure the audience cum twice.
Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou - Bouken Desho Desho? (Live)
It’s not easy to sing live but it seems that the recorded version is a lot better. God Knows sounds a little off-sync somehow. I dislike the way she vibrates her voice.
Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou - God knows… (Live)
Lost my music is not any better. Well, it’s live I guess.
Saw this at YouTube, love the subtitles. This is the story of Hitlers Downfall, his final defeat against Microsoft has now pushed him over the edge.
Verry funny stuff. Microsoft terminated Adolf Hitler’s Live account when he had a gamescore of more than 2000, now he has to play super-fucking-mario on his N64.
This is just awesome I tell you. Straight from TED, Live Labs guys demonstrates the power of modern computing. Two of the products introduced here is Seadragon and Photosynth, take a look at the video at the bottom, pause first and let it load finish!
I like idea that they took all the pictures of Notre Dame Cathedral and just construct a whole 3D view just like that. And what’s more, they actually use Flickr!
Photosynth combines hundreds or thousands of regular digital photos of a scene to present a detailed 3D model, giving viewers the sensation of smoothly gliding around the scene from every angle. The scene can be constructed regardless of whether the photos are from a single or multiple sources. Itâ??s like a hybrid of a slide show and a gaming experience that lets the viewer zoom in to see greater detail or zoom out for a more expansive view. By viewing the photos in a 3D context you are able to get a better sense for the place where they were captured.
Currently in beta, Windows Live Messenger 8.5 would sport a new interface. It looks much beta and cooler and has a more consistent Windows Live branding. Check out some of the screenshots that I included.
The Windows Live Messenger sign in window, version 8.0 on the left, 8.5 on the right. Windows Live Messenger 8.5 seems to have a lot more text that people don’t find useful to see. It’s probably the lawyers’ idea.
And of course, the main window. Similarly, 8.0 is on th left, 8.5 on the right. It’s all looking much cleaner and I love it when the interface designers removed the left and right border, it makes the application feel lighter.
Windows Live Messenger 8.0 is at the top and Windows Live Messenger 8.5 is at the bottom. The chat window has little changes, take a look at the Send and Search button. It’s looking better on 8.5. Previously on 8.0, it’s quite space wasting to put it on the right of the chat box.
During my installation, I was told to shut of Windows Explorer, I don’t have any Explorer windows open and in order to continue with the installation, I ended the Explorer.exe.
There really isn’t much changes. Everything works similarly, the interface change is much welcomed though.
