YouTube and LG partner to roll out phones

Uncategorized

YouTube and LG decides to partner to come out with phone, not sure if it would be successful. I’m not really fond of LG phones.

Youtube, SKorea’s LG agree to develop mobile phone

SEOUL (AFP) - South Korea’s LG Electronics said Tuesday it has signed an agrement with YouTube, the world’s biggest video-sharing website, to develop a mobile phone which can operate the service.

LG Electronics said the proposed model will enable users to upload, view and share video clips or user-created content (UCC) online freely without using computers.

“LG Electronics will unveil the mobile handset that fully supports the YouTube service for the first time in Europe in the second half of this year,” the South Korean firm said in a statement.

LG Electronics, the world’s fifth-largest mobile phone manufacturer, is also stepping up its partnership with Google, the world’s largest Internet serach engine which owns YouTube.

It began selling third-generation (3G) handsets called “Google phones” with software installed for directly using the Google service, in Europe last month.

If they really do come out with this YouTube LG phones, I will mock at it for 1 week at least. Anyway, the market is just not ready for videos being served via mobile phones I think. Phones need to be a lot cheaper and the phone subscription need to be made cheaper too. That way, all the new-generation kids would go get cheated and purchase these YouTube phones. The students would find it fun… If they have the money.

And Daryl and I were talking about the LG logo, we don’t like it a lot.

Me: LG has a frigging smiley that doesn’t look like its smiling. it looks like it’s winking at you but it really is just a terrible attempt to put alphabets ‘L’ and ‘G’ into a logo

D: i always think it’s freaky. bcos i imagine a real person w an LG head. but i always imagine freaky things.

Me: i don’t wish to imagine that, it’s nightmarish

The LG logo is the one with the red colored head.

Warrant reveals no games in Cho Seung Hui’s posession

Uncategorized

Cho Seung Hui (ì¡°ì?¹í¬), the troubled young man whose nightmarish assault on his fellow students will most likely be studied for years to come, doesn’t seem to have been someone who had any involvement with video games in his recent history.

The claim of video games causing Cho to commit this massacre is thereby inaccurate. Everytime such thing happens, someone would just blame computer games. I always thought that it’s something that the big media companies thought up since they are not producing or publishing any games.

Cho killed 33 students in Virginia Tech, including himself. Most of the people I know can’t pronounce ‘virginia’ correctly and it sounded like some other word in the dictionary.

007 in North Korea

Uncategorized

North Korea’s 007, a currently very popular short movie by some Chinese netizens, mocks Kim Jong Il and his secret agent buying Hennessy XO wine from Chinese black market.

*North Korea’s 007 (part 1)*

You can watch all the episodes with this YouTube playlist.

Watch out for part 3 where the Chinese Mafia sings and dance to the tune of Michael Jackson’s Beat It.

Review: Gwoemul [The Host] (2006)

reviews

I just watch The Host (Korean title: Gwoemul), a Korean film that involves all the actors and directors I don’t know. It’s directed by Joon-ho Bong. I do not watch much Korean films but this one is said to be really good.

Poster for The Host or Gwoemul.

So I sat through the 2-hour movie wishing it was just an hour. The Host attempts to incorporate several genres. It has action, comedy, science fiction, thriller and possibly more. The actors are quite good, but I am not really comfortable with their facial expressions sometimes, they seem too exaggerated in a couple of scenes.

The plot is almost terrible. The Host is based on an actual event, I shall quote directly from IMDB.

Did you know?

The event described in the beginning of Gwoemul is based on an actual event. In February 2000 in a US military facility located in the center of Seoul, US military civilian employee Mr. McFarland ordered to dispose formaldehyde into the sewer system leading to Han River despite the objection of a Korean subordinate. Korean government attempted to prosecute Mr. McFarland in Korean court but US military refused to hand over the custody of Mr. McFarland to the Korean legal system. Later, a Korean judge convicted Mr. McFarland in absentia. Public enraged at the Korean government’s inability to enforce its law on its own soil. In 2005, nearly five years after the original incident, Mr. McFarland was finally found guilty in Korean court in his presence. He never served the actual prison sentence, however. No sighting of mutant creature has been reported in Han River, yet.

Source: IMDB

The chemicals caused a mutant and led to this gigantic mudskipper-kinda creature. It’s huge and it grabs the main character’s daughter. Believing that his daughter is still alive, the family went to look for her in hopes of saving her.

What is commendable is the computer graphics. It is one of the better ones in an Asian film and it actually didn’t look that fake. It is overhyped, and I have to admit that I’m disappointed. For bad plot and surprising graphical achievements, I rate the movie 3 out of 5 stars.
