It’s just a simple feature but it just saves so much time, clicking on the Download all attachment link in Gmail lets you, er, download all attachment. But you get it consolidated nicely in a ZIP file. It makes life so much easier.
Microsoft’s Windows Live Hotmail (name too long, consider rename) does not have that feature and it is my main complaint. Last time I’ll click and download the bloody attachments one by one. I’ll have to wait, download, save, wait, download, save, wait…
Now I just forward the mail from Live Hotmail to Gmail and download the attachment through Gmail. It’s a simple yet well-thought feature. What a life saver when you have like 10 attachments!
And recently Gmail increased the email space limit to 6 GB. It now says that I am using 625 MB (10%) of your 6182 MB. And if you’re wondering how come I store 600 MB worth of emails? Oh, it’s just those mail I forward from Hotmail to Gmail so that I can download all the attachments.
Sad to say, as much as I love Gmail, I still rely quite a lot on Hotmail, especially with friends. I use Gmail for work, but all the mails my friends send me to go to my Hotmail.
Probably due to an Internet Explorer favicon bug, my Windows Live Hotmail favicon turned into a Gmail favicon. Previously it was an ESPN favicon.
(My Windows Live Hotmail icon somehow turned into Gmail.)
This is not the first time I see the wrong favicon. Back then, when using Internet Explorer 6 in Windows XP, I remember encountering something like it. I guess they haven’t really fixed that bug up.
SAN FRANCISCO — Microsoft Corp. is in talks with Facebook Inc. about making an investment in the social-networking startup that could value Facebook at $10 billion or more, according to people familiar with the matter.
Microsoft’s approach to Facebook in recent weeks with proposals to invest in the fast-growing site is part of the software giant’s effort to catch up with the Internet rival Google. If successful, Microsoft’s talks with Facebook could give it an up-to-5% stake in the closely-held startup — a stake potentially valued at roughly $300 million to $500 million, the people familiar with those talks said.
The people familiar with the matter said that the discussions are still preliminary and Facebook could wind up not taking an investment from either Microsoft or Google. Factors in the discussions include the valuation the suitors would offer to Facebook and other business considerations they could contribute to sweeten any deal.
A Facebook spokeswoman and spokesmen for Microsoft and Google declined to comment.
Microsoft previously had an arrangement to serve advertisements at Facebook. Social Networking is kinda the in thing this year, isn’t it? Google has Orkut already, although the membership haven’t been exactly impressive. Somehow Facebook just have something special I guess.
Help us imagine how an email message travels around the world. Take a look at the collaborative video we started, and then film what happens next. Post your clip as a response to this one. We’ll edit a selection of submissions together to make a final video, which will be featured on the Gmail homepage and seen by users worldwide.
Respond to this video with your own clip by August 13, 2007 to be considered to the final collaborative video. Learn more about the project
I think the end results would be interesting. You need a Gmail account to get started.
We’ve signed on Microsoft as our new partner to sell and serve the ads on Digg. It’s a deal similar to the one Facebook signed with Microsoft last year.
This move gives us an advertising partner with a larger organization and a more scalable technology platform to keep pace with Digg’s growth. Best of all, it lets the Digg team completely focus on new feature development. Federated Media, which has been an awesome partner for the last year and a half, will continue working with Digg focusing on integrated sponsorships and custom programs like the Arc project in labs.
Digg intends to switch from Google to Microsoft? I love to see how their ads actually work. I didn’t know Facebook switched to Microsoft too. Google should watch out a little. Ads are a good business.
