*Student accused of trying to crash school’s computer system*

UNIONTOWN — A Stark County high school senior has been arrested and charged for allegedly trying to crash his school’s computer system.

Police say the student created a website, which connected to the school’s system.

When enough users logged on and hit the F5 button, it overloaded the school’s system.

But, Lake High School caught-on before the system crashed. Its computers started slowing down.

“It’s a crime and it is important we take this seriously … especially for school officials … it could have done a tremendous amount of damage,” said Canton City Prosecutor Frank Fronchione.

Michael Stone, 18, is charged with a felony and could face jail time.

But, prosecutors say community service is more likely and disciplinary action from the school.

So you see, continual pressing of refresh is a chargeable offence. This kinda reminds me of what Lycos did to the spammers.

Concerning my previous post of an upgrade in the WordPress software, well - it is done already. My WordPress is 2.0 now.

The new WordPress 2.0 administrative interface.

(The new WordPress 2.0 administrative interface.)

If there are any problems you encounter with viewing or posting of comments, do give me a note and I’ll try to fix it.

As of today, I still notice some minor problems with WordPress that could have been fixed. But they are mainly with the administration interface. The development team redesigned the interface a little, it looks more professional now. The only thing I wish they hadn’t done is to change the ‘Write Post’ interface which is more like a WYSIWYG [What you see is what you get] editor. I prefer an option to allow me to choose from just plain text to such an editor.

Well, anyway the upgrades done and it can’t be undone unless I restore my SQL database. Hope it gets smoother. :)

angels//demons

reviews

I read this book called Angels & Demons by much-famed author Dan Brown. I was persuaded to read this book by a couple of friends so one day, I decided to borrow it to read.

It’s quite a good book. It was captivating and there wasn’t any moment that I got bored and decided it is best to do word search puzzles.

Angels & Demons is not a fantasy book that I once thought it would be. I heard of the book of course and came thought it’s about a book on how the angels fight the demons in a world of fantasy. Apparently I had taken the book title too literal.

Angels & Demons is a book written prior to Da Vinci Code which is pretty much known to everyone now ever since it’s controversial mention of Mary Magdalene being the spouse of Jesus Christ. See! I haven’t even read Da Vinci Code and I already heard about it.

The book - Angels & Demons - is about Robert Langdon, a Harvard lecturer in symbology. I doubt that there is just a course at Harvard actually. The story begins with scientist Leonardo Vetra being murdered and than marked with an Illuminati sign. Illuminati is some secret society that is believed to be present no more. Vetra’s daughter, Vittoria Vetra, discovers that antimatter which is more destructive than nuclear weapon is missing from the laboratory. Together, they journey through the Vatican City, in search of the missing antimatter only to find themselves involved in much more than that.

Dan Brown wrote an exciting book. It’s got both religion and science. And you think they just don’t mix together. It is interesting read. Langdon’s nerdy sense of humor - however - isn’t. The book seems to be attempting to convince the reader of so many surprising “truths” that I just can’t take it at one point. There seems to be a bunch of brags about this and that. Ignoring those flaws, the book is more enjoyable. I love the twist in this book. :)

This book is one of the better books I come across - not that I read a lot - 4.5 upon 5.

On Thursday’s Today newspaper, the excerpt writes the following.

The guys on _Project Superstar_ may lack the X chromosome - but not the X-factor

Source: TODAY (Singapore) newspaper, published on Thursday, June 2, 2005.

I pitied the men who lost their X chromosome due to the reporters failure to do a little bit more research. At least the men themselves are truly wonderous since they manage to survive till this date with just a Y chromosome.

[While women has 2 X chromosomes in each cell in normal conditions, men has an X and a Y chromosome.]

If you get this error message, I’m sorry about it, I am in the process of finding out what the hell happen.

Warning: file(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in /home/beconfu/public_html/wp-content/plugins/fishfin.php on line 30

Sometimes programming can be rather strange. I often think, “didn’t it use to work just a couple of days ago?” It just isn’t working any more and I doubt I changed any setting accidentally because I don’t god-damn know how to.

[Fishfin is a plugin I made. And you thought, "no wonder it's problematic", hahaa...]

*It has been fixed.*
I still don’t know what’s the problem though (I even give 666 for the permission), but I decided not to use a file and just put everything into an array. It works already.

I am doing a minor upgrade from WordPress 1.5 to WordPress 1.5.1. It shouldn’t affect much of the site, I did minimal customizations to the develop codes. Only one or two files altered so nothing should go wrong.

This minor upgrade would be applied May 10, 2005. I love to see what the developers have done to this release. I am always excited over software upgrades. I’m quite nerdy I guess.

I hope to see the pingbacks and trackbacks work right. Currently, the pingback does not work but the trackback does after I applied a little fix I saw in the forums.

The minor upgrade is currently in process. If you experience difficulties viewing //beconfused, please be patient. Thanks.

[The upgrade is done. It's real quick, it went smoothly I believe. Now I just have to test the comments.]

How well do you trust translation tools on the web? Well, I received an email from Jin Yao to demonstrate how well Google’s translation tool can perform.

So firstly, as instructed by the email, I input this text

  • Sushmita’s mom is nice and cool

Alright, cool. Now, I set the web form to translate from English to Spanish. A click on the ‘Translate’ button gives me this:

  • La mama de Sushmita está agradable y fresca

So I got the Spanish translation. Unfortunately, I don’t understand a word of Spanish, so I translate it back to English. And it says:

  • The breast of Sushmita is pleasant and fresh

Spanish is such a sensual language.
