Palin Sued for Private E-Mails About State Business

In a lawsuit filed in Alaska Superior Court, a Republican activist seeks to force Gov. Sarah Palin to produce copies of official correspondence she sent and received on private e-mail accounts.

Andrée McLeod filed the suit Wednesday and publicized it in a news release today. “Rather than using her state e-mail account, throughout her two-year tenure as Governor of Alaska, defendant Sarah Palin, as a matter of routine, has used, and, on information and belief, continues to use, (at least) two private e-mail accounts… to conduct official business of the State of Alaska,” the suit alleges. (Source: The Trail)

A Republican activist filed a suit? That’s interesting.

(Download all attachments in Gmail.)

It’s just a simple feature but it just saves so much time, clicking on the Download all attachment link in Gmail lets you, er, download all attachment. But you get it consolidated nicely in a ZIP file. It makes life so much easier.

Microsoft’s Windows Live Hotmail (name too long, consider rename) does not have that feature and it is my main complaint. Last time I’ll click and download the bloody attachments one by one. I’ll have to wait, download, save, wait, download, save, wait…

Now I just forward the mail from Live Hotmail to Gmail and download the attachment through Gmail. It’s a simple yet well-thought feature. What a life saver when you have like 10 attachments!

And recently Gmail increased the email space limit to 6 GB. It now says that I am using 625 MB (10%) of your 6182 MB. And if you’re wondering how come I store 600 MB worth of emails? Oh, it’s just those mail I forward from Hotmail to Gmail so that I can download all the attachments.

Sad to say, as much as I love Gmail, I still rely quite a lot on Hotmail, especially with friends. I use Gmail for work, but all the mails my friends send me to go to my Hotmail.

The ads are simply too big. I can imagine Windows Live Hotmail looking much prettier with the removal of the ad on the top. I’m okay with ads but when the designer is planning for the application, at least take in consideration how the website would look like with an advertisement.

One look at Hotmail tells me how much advertising revenue mean to Microsoft. They are probably trying to get people to upgrade to their paid plans. I like the whole Live service bar idea but let that be on top, not ads.

This explains why I spend so little time at Windows Live Hotmail even though that supposed to be my primary mail address that’s for work.

Google’s Gmail has been updates to allow bigger file attachments, 20 MB that is. I never had to send such huge files through Gmail but it is always good to hear of an upgrade.

The little problem is that most email providers don’t support incoming mail with such big attachments making Gmail rather lonely. Basically Gmail people would just be happy sending the 20 MB to their fellow Gmail friends. Perhaps other companies would move to 20 MB soon.

But really, what’s cooler is that – at Yahoo! Mail, there is no storage meter! Archive as much as you want now. Yahoo! is being really generous. Are you listening Microsoft?
