An ad campaign for LOUIS VUITTON by Mamoru Hosoda (of Digimon fame). an updated alice in wonderland, in which a girl, searching for her lost cell phone, floats in a dizzying world of the company’s logos. While waiting to meet her friends outside of a Louis Vuitton store, Aya’s cell phone is eaten by the LV Panda, who then promptly swallows Aya – but the inside of his stomach is gateway to a psychadelic wonderland. Based on characters created by famed superflat artist Takashi Murakami.

The song featured in this movie: Fantastic Plastic Machine – “Different Colors”. Takashi Murakami has featured his artwork along with Louis Vuitton’s collaborated products at MOCA, Los Angeles’ Museum of Contemporary Art. The limited Murakami edition of Louis Vuitton’s Neverfull bag is one of the most sought after items for Fall 2007. The newest character added on the Louis Vuitton monogram pattern is the Chibi Kinoko on the Agenda PM.

Not sure if you guys have actually seen this, the Odex parody video:

XEDO Holocaust

And just in case you don’t know what is Odex:

In Singapore, the piracy of Japanese animation has gotten quite a bit of press coverage. I know many people downloading anime. One of the local anime distributers, Odex, decided to start demanding payment from people who download from sources such as BitTorrent. While they’re generally and lawful to pursue this matter, their approach is not favorable among the local anime community.

They demanded a monetary settlement from the downloaders of about $3000 which they claim is the fees that were spent on issuing the lawsuit. Such bullying tactics has caused several to boycott Odex products. I looked at Odex products at HMV feeling disgusted by their ways. To worsen matters, ISP Singnet and Starhub revealed their subscriber details.

But as the Odex saga is coming to an end, it’s interesting to watch the supposedly good guys turn bad and hated all around town. Odex didn’t do anything wrong when they start whining people are downloading their anime. It’s the all suing thing that just sucks. I think there’s plenty to learn from this. Don’t be overly righteous. And be more sensitive to what you say in forums.

This is something for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya fans. SOS!

Watch Hirano Aya (Suzumiya Haruhi), Chihara Minori (Nagato Yuki), Goto Yuki (Asahina Mikuru) lip syncs to Hare Hare Yukai. They dance quite true to the one in the anime. I think it’s very well done! Hare Hare Yukai become one of Japan’s hottest dance songs after the debut in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou – Hare Hare Yukai (plus encore)

And Hirano Aya wants to ask you, “did you cum twice?” So she wore a shirt to say that. It’s funny watching her sing with that shirt. I’m sure the audience cum twice.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou – Bouken Desho Desho? (Live)

It’s not easy to sing live but it seems that the recorded version is a lot better. God Knows sounds a little off-sync somehow. I dislike the way she vibrates her voice.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou – God knows… (Live)

Lost my music is not any better. Well, it’s live I guess.

In secondary schools, joining a CCA is a must. You have to choose one, you have to represent the school in this and that and bring back some silly honors for the school. I mean you’re great at marching? What the fuck? Is it going to help you in life at all? How is this co-curriculum? Have you just stop and think who is it that you’re benefiting? Is it really yourself or just the school?

And if you think you’re indeed benefiting yourself, couldn’t you choose to do what you want to actually benefit yourself? For example, I love Japanese anime, why can’t I just start a Japanese anime appreciation club where a bunch of people just sit in a room and watch television all day?

My secondary school just had to persuade us to join some crazy uniform groups to nurture teamwork and, erm, country building. I recall my principal urging people to join uniform groups. The CCA talk he gave is absolutely bias and dedicated a whole fifty minutes to uniform groups and ten seconds to comment the existance of clubs and societies. I was so annoying by his speech that I joined a club. Seriously if you joined a uniform group in secondary school, and spend all the time doing drills, perhaps you can find something better to do – like watching anime or play tennis or even running.

Some guys would join the NCC and wear those army uniform. Seriously, you guys are just cosplaying soldiers! If you’re a guy, you have 2 years in national service to slowly cosplay being a soldier, a police or a civil defence guy. And NPCC? Haa! You’re just cosplaying being a policeman. Why don’t you go join the cosplaying club instead. You get to be air-stewardess, Haruhi, maid, bunny girls, esper, ninja, shinigami (death gods), military personel and more. You can change your costumes every week if you want.

Yeah, I just finish watching Ouran High School Host Club (æ¡?è?é«?æ ¡ã??ã?¹ã??é?¨ Ã…?ran Kōkō Hosuto Kurabu) anime, it has manga origins. Artist Bisco Hatori (è??é³¥ã??ã?¹ã?³) has her first hit in this. It’s not a bad anime. Quite funny but the ending is somewhat expected I guess. I shan’t spoil it for you guys though.

Ouran High School Host Club is about the gathering of a bunch of super rich kids studying in Ouran High School which is an exclusive school for wealthy families. The main characters are from prestigious families, think along the lines of F4 just that they don’t really hang out, act cool and be gay enough to all like one same girl. In Ouran High School Host Club (hereafter refered to just ‘Ouran’), the super rich kids are hosts for women. They entertain their fantasies of perfect romance. There is no ero-ero in it. The host club was doing great until someone came in and knock over their 1 million yen vase.

No, Ouran is not about the vase; Ouran is about the person who broke the vase – Fujioka Haruhi. The vase smashed onto the ground and Haruhi has to work to pay of the debt. Haruhi, a commoner, begins serving women.

The twist? Haruhi is not a guy. She just has short hair. Her petite looks and beautiful skin is an attraction to many school girls. She dresses up as a man and the Host Club gang taught her how to be a host. And Haruhi, who enjoys instant coffee and street shopping, help the Host Club guys learn more about themselves.

Ouran has 26 episodes, not awfully long. The pace is just right and it’s quite enjoyable to watch. Ouran gets 4 stars out of 5 for having a dynamic set of characters, good story and pace. Minus half for the fact that the girl-mistook-as-guy thing – well, it’s done over and over again. Minus another half for the Host Club guys being too rich.

You can find more screencaps in BasuGasuBakuhatsu Anime Blog, I gotten the above screenshot there too.

Well asides being in camp of course.

Reading

* Thomas Friedman’s The World Is Flat
* Japanese For Dummies

I took a really long time to read those books. I’m kinda busy these days and I do not read books when I am at home.

(Image of Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.)

Watching

* The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Anime) – It’s just one of those anime that’s different. It’s fun to watch and has an addictive soundtrack.
* Death Note (Anime) – I didn’t catch the movie but I heard it’s a really good comic book. I am not into manga because I’m just terrible in figuring out what’s in the dialogue boxes.
* Full Metal Panic (Anime) – I didn’t watch this before and my friend highly recommends this. I’m at episode 2 only though.
* My Boss, My Hero (Drama) – I watch that in camp with Mandarin subtitles. I can’t read traditional Chinese characters well and I stopped reading it already. I get the gist of the drama when I hear familiar Japanese words.

Going to watch

* Prisonbreak (Drama) – My brother obtained the VCD set and I will have to watch it one day.
* ?樣?年?女 Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu (Drama) – I saw this lying around my house too. I heard it’s quite a popular Mandarin drama.

(Taiwanese drama Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu or Hanazakari no Kimitachi e)

Taiwanese drama Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu (?樣?年?女) is based on Hisaya Nakajo’s Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (?????の??ちへ For You in Full Blossoms). I only recognize female group S.H.E’s Ella from the poster. I’ll watch it when I am really free.

Some work

* I’ll be involved in some web designing and developing work for two groups. I realize that I lack a lot of experience in communicating with people.
* Also working on a layout for myself but it’s kinda put on hold. I kinda got myself into reseller business without knowing.

Sorting out my computer

* I have many documents that I save in Downloads and My Received Files. I also realize that I have 18 folders named Web and 8 folders named “Work” spread all around my computer. Now I consolidated it to just 2 Webs and 1 Work. So far so good.
* Currently my music folders are in a mess too. I put music everywhere. The files names are not consistent too. I renamed lots of MP3 files with the excellent Mp3tag.
* I finally started to back up my data too. I’ve been really lucky and didn’t get any problems with the hard disk so far. I heard a couple of horror stories and now I’m making sure I have back ups for some important files.

I kinda lack inspiration these days. I have lower attention span also, haven’t been replying the emails which is kinda piling up as I type probably. I don’t IM as much too. Honestly, I have no idea what consumed my time.

I probably spend too much time at digg.com or my feedreader. There are some work I wish I would complete but I just didn’t really have the mood to work on them.

The mood comes after I rest for two or more days and now I don’t really have the chance to just rest at home. I keep going out, be it to camp or just to town. In the past, changing of a wallpaper seemed to be helpful, today I can change the layout of my table and it wouldn’t help too.

It’s a boring month for me. I feel like doing going for a holiday or something. I think I kinda want something to break my routines. Week after week, I just go into camp, work on some stuff, arrange my folders, watch some anime and listen to some music.

Any suggestions on what to do for a change?

There was this time when the whole Pokémon craze is in Singapore. Pokémon or Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター Poketto Monsutā?, IPA: /ˈpoʊkeɪmɒn, ˈpɒkimɒn/) is from Japan, comes in more than 400 nowadays. All the kids were just crazy over them. They discussed Jigglypuff in the morning, they discuss Pikachu during recess and they strategize how Pikachu can win some water creature.

My brother bought gameboy just to play the game. And he bought the Pokémon cards, watch the television cartoon which I always felt is retarded by the way. My brother know his Pokémon inside out and offer technical support for his friends. They call my brother to ask him where can they find a particular Pokémon. And my brother knew! He may not know where Istanbul is but he definately can tell you where’s Dratini.

“Oh no! I have to use Pikachu’s XXX to counter.”

(I hate Pikachu.)

The cartoon didn’t really attracted me. The game however did. I got almost all the Pokémon! And when Nintendo release a sequel with like 250 Pokémon or something. I just given up playing.

I got this friend who train almost all his Pokémon to level 99. What a complete waste of time.

With more than 400 now, try memorizing them! That take – Deoxys. Togekiss. Regigigas. Arseus. Fuwaraid. Bossgodora. Huntail. Dumbbell. Metagross (gross name!).

While Jeeves is a great valet, he doesn’t usually gives me what I want. Perhaps I speak in too sophisticated English and he’s just French. Anyway, you can always post a nice question through Ask Jeeves and someone can answer you. It’s similar to Yahoo! answers, just more questions and answered there.

Today, with Jeeves gone, we can only look at other sources to ask a question. One that I found that’s unique is AskANinja.com.

It is assumed that Ninjas are brilliant in er… Naruto. But modern day ninjas need to know more than calling up frogs to go against Gaara.

_(Sample of an Ask a Ninja video where Rude Randy asks about how to kill a Ninja. View at YouTube.)_

You can ask the ninja a question and he answers you with a nice YouTube video. It’s brilliant video editing by the way.

Naruto is an anime that's still running I believe. It's about Ninjas and the below video adds theme songs to the various characters of Naruto.

They sang this to Gaara (the sand monster guy), "Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream, make him the cutest that I've ever seen; give him two lips like roses and clover, then tell him that his lonesome nights are over." (Song is by The Chordettes in the 1950s.)

I like they did to Jiraiya too, he sings that he's too sexy for his shirt till it hurts. (That's Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy".)

I just watched finish the anime – Midori no Hibi. It’s an okay anime. I would consider it to be a romantic comedy. I feel that anime nowadays seems to be very “multi-genre”. A successful anime is usually one that appeal to the largest crowd.

(Midori-chan.)

Midori no Hibi is literally translated as “Midori’s Days” I believe. Before I watched the anime, I actually saw the manga (comic) a little. About half the comic series roughly. I quite like the comic.

Midori is a girl who admires Seiji, a gangster from another school, at a distance. She daren’t confess her love to Seiji. One day, she becomes ill and never wakes up.

Seiji wakes up like usual and realizes he has an addition companion. In shock, he screamed. And she screamed. And I laughed. Midori appears attached to Seiji’s right hand. She has unwillingly (but much gladly) becomes Seiji’s right-hand woman.

(Midori appears on Seiji’s hand.)

Their relationship develops as Seiji protects his right hand by not retaliating the hooligans beating and Midori wearing those ‘I love Seiji’ clothes that she hand-made with love.

While on Seiji’s hands, Midori begins to understand Seiji better, seeing the kind side of him. Seiji, on the other hand, begins to know of this shy girl, and seeing the naked side of her. This anime has slight top nudity but not suggestive adult themes.

As Midori is enjoying being on Seiji’s right hand, she realizes that her other self is lying motionlessly on her bed in her house. She is affecting the people who are close to her.

(They become closer.)

Midori no Hibi is an anime to be watched casually. The romance is not strong enough. Sometimes it would seem that there are too many characters that come and go. The art work is great and the ending song is beautiful. I rate the anime 3 stars out of 5. The manga, however, scores better at 4 out of 5 with a longer and more rounded plot.

<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-1497720434432681";
google_ad_slot = "6711626597";
google_ad_width = 468;

Early in the morning – anime. I am watching Twin Spica right now. Twin Spica is about Kamogawa (a girl’s name) wish to become an astronaut after she come to meet her friend – Lion-san. Lion used to be an astronaut and died when his rocket’s launching failed. The launching took the lives of several civilians, one of them being Kamogawa’s mother.

Lion appears to Kamogawa as a ghost and influenced her quite a bit – including her interest to fly to space. Another space anime it seems, but this has none of all the ridiculous technologies such as a space shuttle’s ability to transform to some fighting robot.

Twin Spica has a simple plot that revolves around Kamogawa’s determination to be a “rocket driver” and in the end – I would very much supposed that – she succeeded.

The anime’s humor level is low since I believe I laugh not more than 5 times till episode 10. The anime is, however, non-predictable – which is what I love to see in animes. I got tired of predictable plots. I tend to do my own prediction to the plots and in the end. I spoil my own show. I did that to Full Metal Alchemist and I did not enjoy the anime as much as my girlfriend.

Also, Twin Spica has slow plot development that kinda made me skip a couple of times. The characters are good and has the depth and artwork I enjoy. I think Twin Spica still deserves a chance to be watched. It is above average but not one of the best around.

Oh yay, ended my review. I rate Twin Spica 3.5 stars out of 5.

I am rushing to watch that anime to the end just to tie one of my loose ends. I don’t wish to stop in the middle. I left 10 episodes and I hope I can finish within 2 days. It is possible.

Previously in //beconfused, I mentioned that I can’t ride a bicycle so I don’t really enjoy myself as much as the others when going to the beach with my classmates (now ex-classmates). [By the way, I watched too much The Apprentice (Season 3), that's why I am beginning my blog entry with "Previously in..." as would in The Apprentice.]

(I think) I have learnt how to bike. Not a motorcycle – which is one thing I would never ride in my life – but a bicycle (which, by the way, is one thing that I never thought I’ll ride again).

I always have this laziness when it comes to learn sports. I am not interested in riding a bicycle because I don’t want to fall. I always have the impression that if you want to learn the bicycle, you just got to fall. Perhaps it is true to most, but my girlfriend’s lesson didn’t include falling in the package. Yes, I took bicycle lessons from my girlfriend, herself a reknown cyclist in her apartment block.

I am skeptical that she can teach my how to cycle actually. She is not going to be strong enough to stop me from falling; she doesn’t conduct bicycle lessons to anyone before too. This afternoon, we just have nothing to do. We can watch Last Exile (Japanese anime), we can play squash, we can play Etherlords (which is not my type of game but hers) or we can just go to my place and both of us would be watching Desperate Housewives. We did none of those usual things, she had a suggestion – learn how to ride a bicycle.

I simply have had one too many bad experiences with bicycle. Let me give you examples:

I got hit by a bicycle.

I got hit by a bicycle on a pavement – a place where Human beings travel on.

I got hit by a bicycle on a pavement – a place where Human beings travel on – and then got scolded by a fucking middle-age man who rides on that bicycle.

My blood boils when I think of it. It is by far my worse experience in bicycles and I ain’t riding on it. I just had to tell everyone this, lol.

Anyway, I went down, my girlfriend lent me her bicycle with flat tyres. [No air-pump.] She demonstrated how to ride a bicycle by riding on one herself. Alright. It’s my turn.

It really sucked in the beginning but I found myself learning more and more at a remarkable speed. Perhaps she is a good teacher, perhaps I am fast-learner, I really don’t know but you guys knows it’s the latter. I start putting my legs onto the pedal. It took 45 minutes I think. I find myself having enough skill to more or less ride around.

After this lesson, I learnt how to:

Ride on a down slope (because the lesson conducted is on a down slope).

Ride on an up slope (because the lesson is later conducted on an up slope).

Ride on a road (because the lesson is conducted in the carpark).

Make a U-turn with the bicycle (because the lesson is conducted on a road that needs me to U-turn or I’ll be kissing the tree bark).

Stop the bicycle (with my hands on the wall as I almost crash into one).

What an accomplishment isn’t it? I think I know how to ride it more or less already. I can ride it myself but I am still very careful as I still lack the experience required to control the bicycle well enough to ride in parks. But it’ll be a sooner-or-later thing. I think I am getting the hang of it already.

Throughout this lesson, I did not fall (although I almost crashed). I had an injury though, my leg has a blue black as the bicycle pedal hit my leg too hard. It’s a good lesson. I find myself enjoying bicycle-riding already. I still don’t like the up slopes though, the down slope is lots of fun though.

Sadly, there is no more outings with my classmates I believe.

My internship is over. I have many plans but too little time to fulfil. Unfortunately, even before I go into fulfilling these tasks during my holiday. I need to finish some stuff from my internship. I have lots of files and need to do housekeeping and return them to my company. It’s a responsibility kinda thing. I am willing to help out my supervisor to do this.

Anyway, my plans are quite ambitious and I doubt that I have to time to fulfil. First of all, it’s something to do with my blog. I plan to roll out an update in the design. I plan to code my own custom plugin to fit a particular function that I shan’t mention at the moment. I can’t find it anywhere you see.

And I agreed to help my friend put up a web site, it’s joint project. I won’t give the details on that though. Not that it is supposed to be a secret – well, nothing is finalized in the project. I can’t speak much except that it is a portal for Ragnarok Online and is likely to use ASP.NET engine and coded in Visual Basic .NET.

I’ll talk about Excel and share a good news with you guy soon. I am probably going to share experiences regarding Excel with some of my polytechnic’s lecturers. It would be done with Desmond if it is agreed upon. I really have no idea how to do this, frankly speaking.

I am going to learn Java. I haven’t gotten the compiler and stuff but I’ll be getting it soon. The reason why I choose to learn Java is due to it’s popularity. I heard much about it and wish to understand more about Java. I hope it’d be beneficial for my work in future too.

And of course, needless to mention, it’s anime. I am going to watch anime. I have quite a lot of anime to watch. I borrowed some DVDs too. I gotten myself Mary Poppins which I’ll watch tomorrow (that’s not an anime by the way).

“What the hell?!” That was exactly what I was thinking when I see the Star Wars inspired opening of Happy Lesson The Final OVA (Original Video Animation).

The universe which spreads infinitely.

The sea of the star which spreads endlessly continued to where, and had minced the eternal time.

Wonderful time which feels It shines with which beautiful Stars shines through the senses flows, and warmth of mysterious space spreads.

amazement, absurdity, flawlessness and naturalness, and unprecedented — audacious……

And the big mystery which flows in an eccentric tale confuses people, and invites to a comfortable labyrinth. About the mystery……

Five young beauty teachers who wrap in a hero gently are fruits….

It was a mama.

(Screenshot of the Happy Lesson The Final Opening that is inspired by Star Wars apparently.)

That’s what I love about anime – there’re always so funny even if they aren’t supposed to be funny. I watched Happy Lesson Advance but – trust me – it doesn’t help me in understand what those strange upscrolling sentences meant. I copied the sentences exact to every single punctuation. What the hell are the Happy Lesson directors thinking?! This is a poorly done translation, it’s like inputting a bunch of Japanese characters in Altavista Babelfish and they paste the translation whole sale!

And I don’t know what’s ‘audacious’! Did they check the thesaurus or something? Man, this is worse than the one from the back of Love Hina art collection!
