  3. My husband & I live in a 340 square foot house, and recently re-built a sunroom that was very cramped, with a shed roof tucked under the eaves of the main roof.

As we were planning the remodel, we saw a National Geographic channel program on small architecture in Tokyo featuring the Penguin House. It inspired us to rebuild the sunroom with a gable roof perpendicular to the main roof and a cathedral ceiling, and to increase the window size from 30 inches to 54 inches tall. The new room has the same foot print as the old room, but it not only feels bigger, it has made every room in the house feel brighter & bigger. Even though we maintained the same architectural style of the original house as built in 1920, incorporating a principle from Penguin House has made our house feel stylish, modern and airy.

    Thnkas for the inspiration!
