Why it doesn’t pay to be “The computer guy”

Uncategorized

Some of the most annoying situations I had with people. They can be friends, relatives or friend of my friend. Here are the 3 basic things you should not be asking me for a favor.

# Never request that I bring my own CD to install on your computer. I do not have a Windows XP CD, if I had one, I don’t have an additional serial number to spare. Stop asking me for my Windows XP CD. It is an OEM edition! Likewise, if you need any software CD reinstallation, please provide me with the software CD. I don’t have serial numbers to spare.
# I don’t hardware. Try not to ask me about hardware, unless I so happen to be planning on buying a computer. If I don’t plan to buy within that next 3 months, I am out of date and know nothing of the current computer hardware trends. And don’t ask me to fix your hardware too, I really don’t know how to.
# Please respect my decision not to help you. I am not willing to learn products that I do not use. You have a problem with Nero? I don’t use Nero. Have a problem with your router, make sure it is a Linksys router. I am just unwilling to learn how to troubleshoot specially. Don’t ask me Starhub questions.

  1. Yeah, true. It doesn’t pay to be “The computer guy”, just like me. I’m only a Secondary student yet my friends, classmates, relatives and even fellow Grand Theft Auto fans from the US ask me for advice on hardware and ask me for help in software. Well, that’s totally crap, especially when the people from US ask me how to run ISOs on their PSP. And they’re 20 year olds. My god!

  3. My brother gives free Pokémon advise to his classmates last time. I always say Nintendo should hire him as a games support officer. He knows where you can find those pokémons.

A lot of people buy PSP and didn’t know how to do hacks and stuff. These people just go around asking for help. I wish they read up on their own instead of asking. I doubt they ever tried finding.

And yes, Jack, I did return me the 2 CDs, but this post is not talking about people not returning me blank CDs. I prefer to get back money actually. I have a lot of CDs that people give me and it’s quite a mess. I prefer people give me back money and I just buy the CD brand that I like, hahaa…
