Non-married SAF regulars to stay overnight in my unit

Uncategorized

Rumor has it that non-married SAF (Singapore Arm Forces) regulars are to stay overnight in my unit after May 01, 2007. It’s something that excites me a little (because I am not a regular). I hope they’ll be able to understand the difficulties with their men better. Often they overlook the accommodation benefits that they could have provided for the men. If they stay in, it may eventually up the standard of living in my camp.

Well, let’s look at the advantages from a wider point of view - my point of view

  • Standard of living would probably improve in general.
  • I just overheard my commander saying that letting regulars stay in isn’t right and it would create a morale issue a couple of weeks back. I’m so pissed that time because it almost seemed that letting NSFs (national servicemen) staying in is justifiable. I tell you, we have a morale issue staying in too you know. Now we are less likely to have morale issues because it’s much fairer.
  • It might encourage those SAF regulars to get married. Just maybe.
  • We won’t be staying in the whole building by ourselves! It used to be quite scary, we’re the only ones staying in, if the regulars are staying in, the place would be much lively!
  • We might just be able to sleep late. Seriously, sleeping at half past ten and waking up at half past five is a morale issue. There are nice television programs till twelve and I’m sure that the regulars are aware of it. Perhaps they would shift the sleeping hours later to accomodate the telly hours.

And of course the disadvantage:

  • Being an SAF regular would seem less attractive.
  • It makes it harder for SAF regulars to get married. It would be harder for them to date. While the regulars can always give themselves time off at night to go out with their girlfriends (or boyfriends), they probably have a harder time getting married.
  • NSF who used to stay out may now stay in instead. Just be careful of that. Commanders may just get them to stay in for no good reason.
  • They may give work to people at night too. I hate to receive work at night.

As you can see, I am more keen on the advantage, especially that little revenge part. I heard several regulars making brainless comments about how it’s unjustifiable to let regulars stay in. It’s just a poor argument, dear regulars. You guys got to try harder.

[Anyway, this rumor only applies to my camp, it doesn't apply to the rest of the camps as previously wrongly suggested.]

  1. Any idea what’s the reason behind letting the regulars get detained like the rest of you guys?

  2. It’s probably something to do with morning exercises. There is something called 5BX (5 Basic Exercises). I do not know what are the 5 basic exercises anymore. It’s been a really long time since I done the basic exercise.

I think one of them is jumping jacks though. They probably want the commanders to stay in camp overnight so that they can facilitate the conducting of 5BX which is kinda silly. Most of us rather hit the gyms.

  3. But gyms will be over crowded.

Maybe it’s just some plot to avoid paying for upgrade of the facilities for you guys. kidding..

But if its just for 5BX, it would really be lame. I don’t blame the commanders for being upset.

  4. Probably there is a morale issue too. The morale might just be higher if the commanders stay in. Might only though. I don’t think my morale would be any higher.

  5. moderate my comment if you like, i think youre just being plain retarded with the revenge part. are you a wuss or what? none of the SAF camps are so horrible until you cant stay there right?

live with it lah complain complain complain. what stupid morale issue. i dont see how it affects your morale, be it dirty toilets or uncomfortable beds.

you take too much in life for granted, maybe learn to look at it from a optimistic POV and you will be so much happier
