Some roads in Singapore would be closing for the Intertional Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting. There are a couple of significant road closures during which period so drivers may want to take note about it.
I was telling a couple of friends about this meeting, only to realize that no one really heard much about it.
KC: Got meeting meh?
Me: Yeah, those finance ministers are going to come and talk money soon.
KC: Then no Great Singapore Sale they still come.
This is probably our country’s event of the year. Lots of countries will probably bring their finance ministers here so it’s pretty big, probably about 10,000 people here. It’s interesting to note that few actually know about it.
Back then, Singapore hosted a World Trade Organization meeting, the same thing happen. Few know what it’s about. Now if you ask my army friends, some didn’t know that such an event was held at Suntec Convention Center.
And last year, International Olympic Committee (IOC) was here too in 2005. Since we can’t host the actual Olympics here, we probably decide to go for the next best – to host the meeting to decide which city should Olympics be held in 2012. It turns out that London won it.

That’s probably one of the few things that I’m proud of my country.
And now the IMF is coming on September, I hope we’d be able to pull this one off. Security has to be stepped up too. Many people are involved indirectly. I’ll be busier coming September. I have this bad feeling these days. I can only hope that the event end without any problems.
