They just called me back to camp. You know I am damn annoyed with the army. I see it as inefficient and I hate the whole red tape thingy. The whole system is going to crumble down sooner or later I believe.
They keep saying 3G (third generation) army, it’s all bull crap. In my opinion, it’s probably a 3G army with a 2G (second generation) system running.
They are calling me back to camp during my off day. And they are going to tell me some off-is-a-priviledge crap. Can you believe some so-call 3G organization will actually tell you this type of shit? Off may be a priviledge, but if you grant it, you at least respect your words and grant me a day off. That off is my duty off anyway.
I tell you, I’ve been working on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. And today Friday, I finally get my duty off. And now they want me to go back. They just called only! It’s due to some bloody silly meeting and you see a bunch of green men nodding their head throughout the meeting.
And tomorrow, which is a Saturday, I’ll be at work again! And Sunday too, and coming Monday. It’s not funny at all! The so-call emergencies are sometimes nothing more than some simple issues or platoon cohesiveness problems. Someone invented the telephone for good reasons. People came up with the mobile phone for even better reasons.
Leadership is problematic at my area. It sucks, and it sucked badly. I can’t describe to you the shit I’m going through, it’s just a waste of time going through army. You always hear of people telling you how the apply their army skills of leadership in their future works and stuff. It’s partly true. Army is a good place and time to develop leadership skills, but it only works for a tiny population only. And if you were to throw me in a company to grow to become a leader of a department in two years, I am pretty sure I’ll develop even better leadership skills.
Now I’m just so frustrated. I don’t have much faith in the army to begin with and after I went in, my level of confidence actually decreased after some time.
Enough rants. See I am so angry that I created a tag for Rants just for this post.

cool it dude. we all know about how inefficient it is inside. the thing is be glad that u are serving a shorter duration than I used to. Sad to say, all these sh*t does not disappear upon ORD. it will come back to you until you are 40 yrs old. Sigh. Gals have a much easier time than us, isn’t it?
by viv (Jul 28, 2006 at 5 PM)viv: Well, in a way, they probably had it easier. But they have labor pains and discrimination in some parts of the world. I’m not really jealous of those, hahaa… I don’t expect it to disappear after I ORD too, I need to wait till I finish my all service after 13 years or something.
These days I just count down every now and then.
My friend tells me, “I bought this new army green water bottle. It just means the old one’s not working anymore. Each time I buy a new water bottle, I tell myself my ORD date is nearing.”
Very nice way of putting it.
