I’ve just watched School of rock. And it really does rock, especially the school children themselves. It’s been a while since I last watched a movie and this film fills in quite nicely.

It’s a basic feel good movie with Jack Black as the not-so-cool rock star, Dewey Finn. He pretended to be a licensed teacher and entered a school with rich brats who – not surprisingly – don’t quite like him. Neither did Finn like the kids, he is just there for “temp-ing” in order to get more money.
Soon he discovers the kids’ musical talent and secretly started a rock band within the classrooms (equiped with sound proof walls and electric guitars). He then lied to the kids that this is part of a graded project and they have to be in some band competition.
So, School of rock – the rock band with the kids and Finn as the lead singer – is established within the classroom walls. While Finn is enjoying himself, he has to hide it from the principal and the kids’ parents.
Overal, School of Rock is an entertaining comedy. It kinda reminds me of Sister Act and Swing Girls. But I still prefer Sister Act and Swing Girls. School of Rock does, however, fills the gap since not much of these movies are around these days. The movie does make an effort to be unpredictable it would seem, but still you can roughly guess what’s next in the movie if you try enough.
“What kind of a sick school is this? Hmm? As long as I’m here, there will be no grades or gold stars or demerits. We’re gonna have recess all the time.” Well, School of Rock receives 3 stars out of a maximum 5.
