diploma//bioinformatics

I am likely to be going to my school graduation. It clash with my national service of course but I am hoping for a day of to go to the graduation. I finish my study – Diploma in Biotechnology (Bioinformatics) – which is perhaps not the greatest course on Earth.

At one moment of time, I thought I may end up dropping out of this diploma, that is when I decided to make a switch and work towards something related to informatics where I am stronger.

Today, when I look back, I think that I made the right decision. However, my decision could have been made better had I study something that is more computer-related. It does help a lot if I am trying to apply to university.

As much as I regret Bioinformatics as my choice in polytechnic, I have to say that I am somehow proud to come out with that certificate. Perhaps it’s because it sounds cool.

Of course I would want to waste my study, I’ll try to get into a university and learn more about computing. But it ain’t all that bad, I learn quite a lot about how this and that works in DNA and blah blah. I do hope to use computer skills on Bioinformatics related stuff.

I just thought of one very strange job. I think it would be interesting to draw Biotechnology-related art work to educate people on Biotechnology. It would be nice if I end up working on that. It seems like something I would be enjoying, not sure if such a job is available though. It seems to specific.

    Hey you Mr Dew!
I would like to write my opinion here about that before I go to bed.
As you know, I am a Management Assistant in Informatics (sounds great, but has nothing to do with coding).

Well, on the back, it says in half a dozen language that this paper is an official graduation document from the CCI (Chamber of Commerce and Industry) stating that I have passed my IT examination including a practical IT related project, documents, presentation and expert tech talk.

Infact nearly 2 years after, I still do not find myself thinking I am more intelligent. but it’s sure great. all I wasnt to say; If you cannot make it because they refuse you, try to find other ways to go to get something IT related to work on as you boggled your mind in that post, that is a good start!

However, nevertheless, you shouldn’t give up in applying to such IT universities and I wish you good luck with that.
If I can help with anyhting pc related, stumble me on ;)

    and now..

    Niiiiiight! :P

    Pictures illustrating Bioinformatics…
Sounds like a children’s book. Something like ‘Little Zygote’s first Stem Cell’

Sounds like a fun photoshop(or whatever) project ;)

Yup, I thought so too. Not Bioinformatics, there is nothing much to illustrate about bioinformatics I think. Biotechnology has more things. It would be nice if I can draw these stuff. I don’t have much knowledge of biotechnology to be able to draw diagrams unfortunately, hahaa…

I stumbled onto your site by accident because you were on my friend’s blog. Thought to come and take a look. :)

hey you! got your link thru jess’ site. =)

i know exactly how you feel. frankly, at diploma level, there’s no such thing as a wrong course. cos there’s always a degree from university. and if you’re still wavering, go for a second!

it took a whole year for me to decide what i wanna study, and still i’m not completely sure what i’ll end up doing after my course. but i believe the boat will travel straight when it reaches the pier.

at least you have some direction!
