It’s our national day today.

The future is ours to make. Singapore celebrates 40th birthday.

(The future is ours to make. Singapore celebrates 40th birthday.)

Today is Singapore’s birthday. I am really happy for myself since I get time off from army. If only Singapore can celebrate their birthday for a week or something; how about just 3 days?

I woke up in this national day morning feeling not very “national-day”. Where is the feeling? I don’t feel that it’s our nation’s birthday. The only thing to remind me is the national flag that everyone hangs around.

I have been stuck in army for 2 months and I don’t bloody know anything about national day. I am just clueless. Totally clueless. There are newspapers there but I don’t enjoy reading much national day news, it’s quite boring.

I just realized that Rui En is the singer for the Mandarin theme song of this year’s National Day Parade. The music video wasn’t too great and the song wasn’t as nice as the previous years’ I feel.

Well, anyway, happy birthday Singapore. Really, do consider my one-week holiday proposal.

[Singapore has lesser holidays than most countries and have only one day as the national day public holiday.]

  1. I lolled at the dance. Strangely, the fireworks display on Nat day seemed shorter than during the rehersals…

  2. The national day song 05 is okay, but not the best compared to previous year. Reach out for the skies - is what is called, I think. I only like the chorus part of the English version. Anyway, I think you will agree that the national day celebration is one of the biggest. 5 locations having celebration at one go. Padang, Marina, Yishun, Tampinese and Jurong East. Personally, I went down to carnival@marina to take a look last sunday, not bad. In fact, I quite like the total defence section where the various defence groups (SAF, RSAF, RSN, SCDF & SPF) put up the display. Oops, sorry for such a long comment.

  3. Serene: You “lolled”, that means you laughed out loud? LOL. New verb. What’s wrong with the dance?

Takumi: I haven’t heard the song actually. I ain’t that interested now anyway. I agree with you, I think Singapore’s national day is the largest scale this year. I think the total defence section is quite boring actually, well I don’t really like to see machines (except computers) to begin with in the first place. And I have no problems with long comments! Keep them coming. :)
