Well, although I did not manage to watch Star Wars in the end, I did watch a movie called Swing Girls (Japan).
I can’t help but to make comparisons with movies like Sister Act and Waterboys. In fact, Swing Girls is like Sister Act and Waterboys combined.

_(Well, they started of playing pretty badly.)_
Swing Girls is another one of those feel-good films about succeeding in your dreams. The girls started of being uninterested in music, much has the once-thought-to-be uncool jazz. The story begins with the school’s band performing in a stadium to support the school’s baseball team. Bentos (Japanese lunches) are not delivered to them so the girls in the delivery just so they can escape from the boring Mathematics class.
They ended up at the wrong train station and had to walk under the sun. The school band members got food poisoning due to the prolonged heat exposure. So no band.
The girls, filled with -guilt- the idea of skipping class again, decides to join the band as a replacement. The ended up forming Big Band, a jazz band. They called themselves Swing Girls and the story goes on.
Since the Swing Girls (2004) and Waterboys (2001) had the same director and writer, it is not surprising that both movies share similarities. A bunch of skeptics come together and ended up really good in that field. It’s a winning formula and people don’t really get tired of watching this I feel.

_(Swing Girls – Live in Concert!)_
This is a spoiler but it is not a shocking one – the girls performed live in a concert and were very well received. I bet you expected that.
A worthy note would be that the music is really performed by the girls in the movie. They are really musicians themselves. Most of the girls don’t of prior knowledge in their instrument and learnt them in Yahama. This gives an added realism to the film. I enjoyed the films from the beginning till the end. While this genre has been repeated umpteenth times, it never seem to bore me. I give Swing Girls 4 upon 5. It’s an enjoyable film indeed. Love the music especially.

by Mr. Dew (Apr 20, 2006 at 5 PM)[...] Overal, School of Rock is an entertaining comedy. It kinda reminds me of Sister Act and Swing Girls. But I still prefer Sister Act and Swing Girls. School of Rock does, however, fills the gap since not much of these movies are around these days. The movie does make an effort to be unpredictable it would seem, but still you can roughly guess what’s next in the movie if you try enough. [...]
