A really long time ago, I played this online web game site called NeoPets. I don’t know if you guys are familiar with it, it’s got a bunch of mutated creatures in bright colors that you have to take care of.
Well, actually, you don’t have to take care of it. I think you can live the poor pet to starve and it just refuses to die. How stubborn. I never feed the poor pet because buying food to feed requires “too many clicks”. Speaking of being lazy. A word to my neighbors: don’t leave your pets with me when you go for vacations.
I like the game at first, everything seemed so refreshing. To me, NeoPets is an innovation. Something new and interesting. The idea was brilliant. Lots of Flash games, lots of useless games that the web developer is obviously trying to increase the total number of games.
I was using a Pentium 1 computer back then and Flash games are real slow when there are too many graphics flying around. There are a couple of games that I broken records.
My secret? A slow computer.
My computer is so slow that time until those shooting game is just moving at 2 pixel per second kind of thing. I have no problems playing at high levels. When in high levels, the speed of the game would usually go faster. There are usually more items in the screen too. These things can be rather distracting. BUT with a slow computer, it’s just like the bullet scene in The Matrix. I kinda cheated.
yet another irony of life. slow computer brings u high scores.

by Mr. Dew (May 25, 2005 at 7 PM)I played Neopets until people we call n00bs overrun it.. I kinda switched over to another petsite with friendlier people but lousier games - Subeta.
Check it out at subeta.org if you want. At least the art is decent and people are sincere.
by milky (May 26, 2005 at 1 AM)milky: I haven’t heard of Subeta. It sounds Japanese. The n00bs overran it? What do you mean? I do notice a large amount of kids playing and the crazy messages in the forums - most of which I don’t understand.
I’ll check out Subeta though. Go to Subeta.org.
by Mr. Dew (May 26, 2005 at 11 AM)Ah, yes. Precisely. They say a ton of silly stupid stuff and it’s plain impossible to have any decent conversation anymore. What’s worse is that you just have to say a wrong word and the next minute you are frozen. Bah.
by milky (May 27, 2005 at 3 AM)milky: Not surprising, they are extremely cautious about cheaters in Neopets. I find them to be too strict. Many people just want to have fun and did not mean to do something wrong such as to use multiple accounts. Many people do not read all those terms and conditions shit. Terms and conditions are worse than those handphone subscription plan small tiny wordings. Everybody just click “I agree” and start playing. I bet some people don’t even know why their accounts are frozen.
