Eventually, after 2 decades, my time has come. It’s time to enter the army. I failed my physical fitness test which is not really surprising. I am weak at sports. If only they have some tasks that uses computers, maybe I’d fare better.

(Uncle Sun: I want you for Singapore army and you can’t fucking choose.)
Anyway, every male in Singapore got to undergo compulsory military [they call it National Service or NS which I prefer it to stand for 'New Scientist'] which is kind of sad in a way because… Well, there goes my freedom. Anyway, it’s a compulsory thing and I have to be stuck in there for 2 years. Yes, I am able to return home on Saturdays and Sundays so it isn’t that bad after all.
I would miss many people and many things though. Especially the great people who I have met, be it online or in real life. I won’t be meeting these people much in future. I’ll be out at every weekend I think. I can’t conclude it at the moment. It really depends where I am posted and stuff.
I won’t be blogging a lot during these times. I can only blog every weekend which is kind of sad. I don’t think they allow me to bring notebooks (the electrical one) inside.
Anyway, as I have mentioned, I failed my physical fitness test so I have to enter the training 1 month early to train up myself. They call it the physical training phase which is basically to kinda get you to be healthier. Then I think you supposed to pass some test then you can leave or something. I don’t really know the details actually. I am not exactly keen in finding out the details too frankly speaking.
During the physical training phase (PTP), I am not allowed to get out of the army for the first 3 weeks. Yes, you hear right, I am going to be stuck inside for the first 3 months, I cannot leave the army unless I have a damn good excuse such as the fact that my body needs to be cremated after I die.
That means that you guys won’t be seeing me during the first 3 weeks. I will not be blogging of course. I will be in the army training and then sleeping like a pig. Then the next day, we train and then continue to look forward to sleeping like a pig. I think it kinda acts as an ice-breaker session too. Hopefully I can make some friends there because I ain’t want to be a loner there.
I will leave on June 11^th^. It will be 3 weeks after June 11^th^ when I can blog again. I will be fine. My blog should still be around. I hope nothing goes wrong. I will not be maintaining my blog during that period of time of course. If your comments somehow got moderated, I’m really sorry. I am not available to accept it until 3 weeks after.

man that really sucks , at least SG probably won’t be in any wars soon (at least it’s not the USA army)
On the plus side, I’m sure your girlfriend will find much to appreciate in your new found fitness when it’s done
by pketh (Apr 26, 2005 at 3 AM)pketh: Yeah, Singapore is unlikely to start a war with any country. We can’t afford to start a war actually and I believe every citizen in Singapore come to this same conclusion that there is no way will can start one. Not at present at least.
I think she may like it, hahaa…
by Mr. Dew (Apr 26, 2005 at 11 AM)i was also enlisted for PTP (many years back, haha i’m not young anymore). never passed my 2.4 run even at the end of PTP. you will definitely firm up your muscles and lose some lipids during PTP. You will do almost nothing, except physical training during PTP (no handling of weapons, no outfield). drink lots of sky juice (tap water). When u gotta go, u gotta go.
by viv (Apr 26, 2005 at 1 PM)Haha.. I went blog-hopping, and almost every blog I read that was written by a guy, was on the NS.
I hope you will enjoy it, since it’s going to take up 2 years of your life, you might as well make something meaningful out of it.
by milky (Apr 26, 2005 at 2 PM)viv: I think I may be able to pass the 2.4 after the PTP. My main problem is with the standing broad jump and the pull up which I really sucked really really badly (er… how about 154 cm for the jump and 0 for the pull up). If the tap water during PTP taste like my house’s tap water, I won’t mind drinking it. I am used to drinking tap water.
milky: Well, I doubt very much I’ll enjoy it. But I’ll try to make use of the time maybe to gain some friends? I don’t know what to do there actually. No choice; still have to go, hahaa…

I made the wrong choice. I went to the wrong swimming pool. It is dirty. I see dead mosquitos in the pool. The sight of it makes me swim away until I realize this would never help as the mosquitos are just, like TV Mobile, everywhere. Perhaps it is bet…

I have learnt to accept it more or less. There is no use grumbling, I will still end up in the National Service which is 2 years now. It used to be 2.5 years. In my opinion, the number of serving years would eventually decrease to a 1 year affair afte…
