It is said that tremors can be felt at Bukit Batok.
**Fresh tremors felt by some Bukit Batok residents**
Almost two weeks after the Nias island earthquake that sent aftershocks rippling into many parts of Singapore, fresh tremors were felt on Saturday morning by some living in the west.
The National Environment Agency confirmed there was an earthquake off the west coast of North Sumatra at about 9.30am.
Registering between 4.2 to 5 in magnitude, the quake is believed to be an aftermath of the big one that devastated Nias island last month.
Some 700 kilometres away, tremors were felt by some Bukit Batok West residents.
Mr Krishnan said: “Around 9.20am, there was a slight shaking in the house. I experienced a slight cracking sound and the sound increase. And I looked at the tiles, the cracks go on increase. I keep looking, what’s happening. In a few seconds, I had been having a cup of tea. It has given me some shock and trauma.”
Other parts of Singapore do not seem to have been affected.

I commented that these tremors somehow occur at night so that I’ll be sleeping or something and be unaware of what’s happening. I live around Bukit Batok and finally a tremor is given exclusively to Bukit Batok – and, damn it, I was sleeping again. [The tremors occurred on yesterday which is a Saturday.]
Usually I wake up at around 8 to 9 in the morning. Yesterday is one of the super rare occasions that I slept till 10 because of my late sleep. And because of that, I missed the tremors.
I know the people at Nias island won’t be half as excited as I am. Earthquakes are dangerous and can costs lives. Tremors, on the other hand, are safer. I never experience ground shakes before except for the time I sat in Cui Xia’s car. I missed my chance to feel this tremor again. I wonder how it is like.
Well, it’s okay, I’ll probably seek the experience in cars.
[By the way, I don't quite get what Mr. Krishnan meant by, "In a few seconds, I had been having a cup of tea." Anyone care to explain?]

The article has BAD english lol. The journalist didn’t bother to polish up the English either.. I have felt the tremors 3 times so far, and I don’t even live in BB!
Haha. In fact, I just felt one last night at 1.30am. And another one during the charity show. They were kinda obvious…
Good luck in feeling one, though I hope it won’t be due to an earthquake again…
Maybe you should really go for the cars. xD
by milky (Apr 11, 2005 at 9 PM)milky: You actually felt 3? I guess I must have been unlucky, lol… During the charity show, I was not at home. Maybe I am in a bus or something, I didn’t feel that one.
