Believe it or not, beconfused.com is actually a very messy place. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure – Nafcom figured my categories aren’t making sense – and he is not into aeronautics.

You haven’t seen my folders. It is crazy. I place images all over my web space. And one day I just thought – my site’s totally screwed up.

My images are stored at these locations:

* blog.beconfused.com/images/200412/
* blog.beconfused.com/images/2005/03/
* beconfused.com/images/
* blog.beconfused.com/wp-upload/
* For some I even use the Exhibit plugin

Now it has become unmanagable – a labyrinth indeed. I can’t find my stuff this way. Now, I plan to structure my folders neater. I’ll make these changes:

* blog.beconfused.com to beconfused.com/blog/
* blog.beconfused.com/archives/2004/12/ to beconfused.com/blog/2004/12/
* blog.beconfused.com/categories/ to beconfused.com/topics/
* all my images stored in this format: beconfused.com/images/2004/12/
* don’t rely on image plugins (not that Exhibit is not good by the way)
* use SQL to UPDATE all my links

That would be a lot of mod rewriting to do. I’ll write those to redirect users. Next time you come to my blog, it’ll redirect you to beconfused.com/blog even if you go directly to a permenant link, it’ll still redirect you to the right page. It’s all talk, no actions. Useless, I’ll start by studying how to do RewriteRule and stuff.

This will be done at 11:30 pm on March 04, 2005, Singapore time (+800). I hope it’ll be a quick one. I’ll just complete the rewriting rules and switch it to beconfused.com/blog/. Hope everything works out. It shouldn’t take long. As for updating my images. Well, that would take a litte longer since it’s so messed up.
