Valentine’s Day is coming. I heard a couple of stories about its significance and the origins and stuff – but you know me, I don’t give a damn about those stories.
But still Valentine’s Day is coming. In Singapore, this is how couples celebrate. Usually the guy plans for the celebration, brings the girl to a restaurant, a rose given to her perhaps, a nice little gift box that contains a ring or something. Sweet basically. Or perhaps a nice cuddly bear you know – just that it would be kinda hard to hunt one down without PETA hunting you down after which.
By the way, I just noticed the Singapore Valentine’s Day profile seemed rather universal and the American, Europeans and Australians probably deployed the exact strategy.
In Japan however, the girls give the guys they like chocolate. Okay, I am no Japanese so I shan’t comment about it.
What would you be giving to the one you love? My girlfriend, jokingly, questioned me if I wanted RAM (Random Access Memory) for Valentine’s Day. [Yes please, 512 MB would do good.]
Apparently, the Japanese took the idea pretty serious.
DDR memory for your Valentine
Printing seasonal messages into computer components is becoming something of a fad in Japan. Latest to hit the shops are the Valentine Day KISS, a 512MB DIMM stamped with its name and a heart logo, and the Sweet Memory Premium Edition, which comes in a cute chocolate-style box (though the chip itself is standard). We should note that this doesn’t indicate a burgeoning geek-girl population, though — on Valentine’s day in Japan it’s the guys who get the presents, while the girls have to wait until White Day a month later.

(Buying a RAM for your love one for Valentine’s Day? Now you can!)
Yes! You actually can do that and get one for your sweetheart – a RAM. A geek’s favorite Valentine’s Day gift indeed. Personally, it isn’t the best Valentine’s Day gift frankly. Well.. I suppose it’s practical, hahaa..

No, I don’t god-damn understand a word I pasted. It’s the original source of dottocomu.com, I just thought the Japanese characters looked kinda cool, lol..

RAM for Valentine’s Day-hey,if you need it,no problem,lol.
It’s the thought that counts.
I’m single right now (and I’m lovin’ it! [insert McDonald's ad here]) and I never really liked Valentine’s day because bad stuff always happens to me…except for last year when my parents gave everyone candy. That’s all I’m in it for anyway.

or some call it single awareness day. which is S.A.D.
by zhi yang (Feb 9, 2005 at 7 AM)vanessa: Happy Chinese New Year to you too! Yes it’s strange, and each time, if you want to admire your Valentine’s Day gift, you need to open up your CPU, hahaa..
aurora_starfire: Well, some people treat it like a friendship day. It ain’t that bad, before I had a girlfriend, Valentine’s Day is just another day – I need to go to school, I need to get up early, it’s just like any other day.
zhi yang: Yeah, that was before I had a girlfriend. I wasn’t sad though, I just return back home to my computer and start playing games or something.
by Mr. Dew (Feb 9, 2005 at 8 AM)that is sad.
