Okay, some new about this blog if you check out the comments. Heard of Gravatars?
A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an 80Ã?80 pixel avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on weblogs?
It’s not hard to implement and I thought it may just be kinda fun.
So pketh and I have decided to implement it on our web sites – pketh.com and beconfused.com respectively.
Why implement it together?
pketh says:
oh btw have u ever heard of gravatars? http://gravatar.com/Mr. Dew says:
yes, i do heard of gravatars, i was thinking if i should go implement that, hahaa
there’re plugins written to give thatpketh says:
ya, well i’ve been meaning to implement them for quite some time – well, i have a gravatar at least .. i suppose that’s the 1st step doneMr. Dew say:
if you implement it, i’ll do the same, hahaa
then we can have it together, i thought it’s strange to be the only one with a gravatar, lolFrom MSN Messenger chat (truncated)
After a while, we begin the implementation. For me, it just take a minute. In fact this post took longer to type. For pketh, he has some problems but manage to get it right in the end. Go read pketh’s post about gravatars. It’s great!
You can sign up for a Gravatar and your gravatar will appear in both our sites as you comment. You just need a valid email and when you post a comment, make sure you put the same email to get your avatar to appear. Your avatar may be pending if you have uploaded it and yet can’t view it.
Go sign up for an account and upload a preferably 80*80 pixel image and get started! Now I just need to wait for my Gravatar, it’s still pending.

Gravatars!!
by pketh | Toronto (Feb 7, 2005 at 10 AM)Whoo! I hate coding; something always goes wrong. Anyways, in a joint effort with monsieur Dew, we’ve both decided to implement Gravatars on comments. I read your mind you know.. You’re thinking “what in the bloody hell are gravatars?”…
testing testing 123, to everyone else look to the right to see my gravicon icon.. and get one for yourself and visit
by pketh (Feb 7, 2005 at 11 AM)My Gravatar’s here! Ain’t the best though. I just anyhow upload an image. It’s pretty interesting though. Verdict: the gravatar stays.
On a side note, I downloaded an RSS aggregator and added your blog, pketh.
by Mr. Dew (Feb 7, 2005 at 3 PM)ooh!
by aurora_starfire (Feb 7, 2005 at 11 PM)I might make one today after my last class!
can it be animated?
i shall try it when i’m not lazy one day..sounds interesting..could possibly be the latest internet trend.
by lainey (Feb 8, 2005 at 7 AM)aurora_starfire: Unfortunately, I doubt so. You need a non-moving image.
lainey: Yeah, one of the reason I hadn’t implemented it earlier is due to laziness, lol.. Latest internet trend? I don’t know about it. It depends on how people implement it.
by Mr. Dew (Feb 8, 2005 at 9 AM)Sounds cool~ I’ll go make one too. XD
by Serene (Feb 8, 2005 at 1 PM)Serene: You can, go make one!
by Mr. Dew (Feb 8, 2005 at 6 PM)Gravatars have already shown up in Haloscan comments automatically. It’s nice that I didn’t have to do anything to have them display on my site, but I’m too lazy to sign up for another service.
by Jessica (Feb 10, 2005 at 5 AM)Jessica: That’s a neat feature, hahaa
by Mr. Dew (Feb 10, 2005 at 1 PM)I don’t know if you can see it yet…
by aurora_starfire (Feb 15, 2005 at 7 AM)I made myself the 119th element,lol
I just used the first three letters of my screen name.
My freezing point (fp) is -15 F (-26 C?)
My boiling point is 103 F (34 C)
-1 and +1 are my oxidation numbers,lol
It’s my own little dorky humor.I was thinking of my junior year in high school when I took Chemistry and thought about how much fun I had in that class.
I thought this up on Friday and I was bored, lol
aurora_starfire: I seen yours already.
The 119th element? I don’t know how many do they have now actually. You must have love Chemistry. I like it but I can’t score well in my polytechnic unfortunately. I guess I’m too lazy, lol
by Mr. Dew (Feb 15, 2005 at 7 AM)I think there’s 118..I don’t know.
I just picked a number I don’t remember seeing on the Periodic Table.
Actually,I nearly failed Chemistry,lol
by aurora_starfire (Feb 15, 2005 at 10 PM)but I liked learning about it,and my teacher was fun.He was really popular. Some random kid walking down the hall would just come in his room and hang out,and he was cool with it.The Chemistry labs were hilarious.
Okay,I’ll be quiet before I post my endless high school memories, lol
aurora_starfire: I don’t remember much of my periodic table, hahaa..
by Mr. Dew (Feb 15, 2005 at 11 PM)What are u guys talking about? And why do you have my name ? My sister Blackfirewants to join the team but I dont trust her she might be planning something like (taking my best friend Robin).
by Starfire (May 22, 2005 at 3 AM)Starfire: I’m sorry I don’t quite get what you mean by ‘team’. aurora_starfire is a friend and the word ‘Starfire’ is probably the cause of this confusion.
