I really got to congratulate my colleague – Daniel – who recently got married in this nice little church. The love birds received blessings from some red cape guy who wears a crown.
(Daniel got married; friends attended to give their blessings.)
Daniel just told me today that he just got married. I was puzzled – trying to recall since when he gotten a girlfriend. He then promised pictures. Looking at the images in awe, I was convinced – Daniel’s hair color is incorrectly pigmented.
Well asides that, it looks great. A virtual wedding from the online game Ragnarok Online. [By the way, can anyone tell me what has this game got to do with 'Ragnarok'?]
In Singapore, to get married, you need to be of a certain age. You need money. You need a girl.
And in Ragnarok Online, to get married, you need the expansion pack I think. Yes, you need to pay a subscription fee. And yes, you need a girl. [In San Francisco however, to get married, the criteria is similar to Singapore's, just that your target can be a guy.]
(The little thing above them says they’re kissing, pretty cute huh.)
My friend got married. Congratulations, Daniel.
Anyway, Ragnarok Online is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). I tried the game before, I don’t know what the hell am I doing there. My friends introduce me to it and told me it’s free. Yes, it’s free, it’s a private server that crashes every fifteen minutes.
Still, I gotten a taste of how the game is like. I wouldn’t say it’s one game that appeals me. I like games like SimCity-type of games, strategy games. I like Role Playing Games (RPG) too, but I figured that I’m a miser because I simply refuse to spend any money. I keep having that thought, “if I bought an item later, I’ll get a better one.” Sure I’ll get a better one – at the end of the game.
I guess RPG’s not really for me. Still, congratulations Daniel, I shall await your kid. Have a nice online honeymoon.

Online weddings…what will they think of next?
and I thought Vegas weddings were bizarre, lol
and yup,in ‘Frisco, gay marriage is allowed.California is pretty liberal with that kind of thing.
I believe New York is,too, but I haven’t seen any marriage ceremonies where I live. We’re probably too conservative of a town.Back in the mid-90s,almost every house had a
“No Abortion” sign, but that’s another story.
It’s way too cold to go back outside.Be happy you live where you are now.If I had an online wedding,I’d move myself and my “husband” to Hawaii.

(I don’t know how to work those darned smilies…)
aurora_starfire: Online weddings.. Hmmmp, what comes next would obviously be online divorces, I acan already picture how the scene looks like.
First there would be this huge table with the still-married couples sitting together. Above them would be 2 speech bubbles holding swords attempting to slash each other. The couple will both look at the other side angrily.
Sitting at the opposite of the table, there’ll be this lawyer. He shall be smiling since the money just keeps rolling in. People may stand around to witness this separation.
The couple both signed, glanced angrily at each other and folded their arms proudly. Then comes the bystanders who would be screaming ‘congratulations’ just like the marriage.
This is followed by the splitting of assets. The game would logically award/deprive the couple of cash, equipment and experience points. The suffering party would be the more developed character.
If the couple has a child. The game court would proceed to fighting for the custody of the child. That would probably be a long story too. Probably an expansion pack.

Online divorces…well,you never know.
It could happen.Possibly in this lifetime.
[I edited your post to make the smilie show]
by aurora_starfire (Jan 25, 2005 at 11 PM)By the way, I figured this for the smilie
If you put ‘:)’, it just doesn’t show. It can’t work with some text in front, like this:)
It needs to be a ‘ ‘ (space) in front, followed by text in frotn of the space, like this
Wow, didn’t know smilies are so hard to appear in WordPress, hahaa
by Mr. Dew (Jan 26, 2005 at 10 AM)lol, it was a fun post ~
I remember playing RO when it was open Beta or whatever a long time ago, I think I feel the same way about it that you
we’re both cheap:)
by pketh (Jan 28, 2005 at 7 AM)pketh: I heard of the beta but I didn’t bother to try as it is a beta and I don’t trust beta products. [Now, one eighth of my software are beta products, hahaa..] And also, I didn’t like the idea that I’ll lose my character after some time because I ain’t paying. I’m such a miser, lol..
by Mr. Dew (Jan 28, 2005 at 11 AM)oh! okay!
by aurora_starfire (Jan 28, 2005 at 10 PM)that’s how you do it…I’m not familiar with Word Press,that’s why…
aurora_starfire: I’m still trying to figure, I can go to the PHP file and find out how the smilies work, but I’m quite lazy to, hahaa.. I only know a couple of smilies at the moment.
by Mr. Dew (Jan 29, 2005 at 12 AM)hey! that’s so cool. how did daniel find this girl by the way? or was the girl’s player jason…
by sky (Feb 1, 2005 at 10 AM)sky: It’s someone whom he met online while playing the Ragnarok Online game and no, it isn’t Jason. Jason plays World of Qin which looks somewhat like Diablo 2. And no, there is no expansion pack in World of Qin to get hitched, hahaa..
by Mr. Dew (Feb 1, 2005 at 12 PM)oh.. so it wasn’t his friend. so this girl he married could be a 35 five year old father with two kids. interesting…
by sky (Feb 1, 2005 at 9 PM)sky: Well, I can’t rule out that possibility. But Daniel seemed sure that the girl is a female. She is from Penang and is studying right now from what I heard.
by Mr. Dew (Feb 2, 2005 at 6 AM)awwww cute wedding
by cute poring (Jun 21, 2005 at 9 AM)whaaa happen
by cute poring (Jun 21, 2005 at 10 AM)I think it’s interesting to have virtual weddings in RPG games. I think your message got moderated, that is why you know see your message coming out.
by Mr. Dew (Jun 25, 2005 at 6 AM)x.x I play Ragnarok and my character’s about to get married to my real-world fiance (weird, I know) but I thought I’d give you the update that they have a kid expansion now. If both parties agree and they find a newbie (or novice as the starting class is called) they can adopt the novice and he suddenly shrinks to half the size of a normal character and his max HP/MP drops by something like 30%…Strange…
by Kosmickittykyo (Jul 10, 2005 at 3 PM)oi!!!!
eu ragnarok Yadork !!!!
Feliz bom!!!
by Diego (Aug 26, 2005 at 10 PM)Kosmickittykyo: That’s interesting. I heard about the kid adoption thingy too, hahaa…
by Mr. Dew (Aug 27, 2005 at 9 AM)Mr. Dew: Is that comment above English? I would say rather not. Looks like a spammer
by Nafcom (Aug 27, 2005 at 6 PM)Nafcom: I don’t think it is in English. Feliz means ‘happy’ in some languages I think.
by Mr. Dew (Aug 28, 2005 at 8 AM)Mr Dew: Then why not deleting it?
by Nafcom (Aug 29, 2005 at 8 AM)Nafcom: Well, it’s not spam in my opinion. It’s probably in another language. I approve all comments unless they are advertising for some site.
by Mr. Dew (Aug 29, 2005 at 9 AM)Mr Dew: Ok,. for me another language is spam, too.
that includes even German since mine is an English blog

by miss mango pie (Jul 20, 2006 at 8 PM)By the way, I am actually playing the game right now in a private server. I’ll blog more about it in future. It’s a pretty good game and I’m glad I played in a private server which gives higher experience points. The official server is just too slow and I don’t have so much time to spare to play games.
by Mr. Dew (Jul 28, 2006 at 5 PM)This is a very good game. I am playing it too and I think it is well designed and worked out.
