I can’t stand this sometimes. The people here are rather lazy. You know there is this invention called ‘printers’. This machine that makes those sounds that you hate so much? [Frankly speaking, those sounds aren't as bad already. I gotten kinda used to them.]

My point is that the people at my workplace don’t fix the damn printer. Every morning when I want to print something, I often find papers stucked in the huge machine. Those things require my attention or else I simply can’t print a damn thing.

I click on the ‘Print’ on Adobe Acrobat 7 and it sends all the stuff to this huge printer that has the words ‘HP’ written on it. I waited as it sent. I waited as it prepared the print. I waited and waited and nothing came out! So I went to the machine and see the red button blinking merrily beside a sad yellow button. The printer needs help.

Oh god damn it. If only humans can invent printers that fix themselves. You see, a HP printer in trouble actually attempts to teach the user how to fix itself. They tell me to turn here, unlock there and stuff. These steps usually work.

Like half an hour ago, I took out a couple of papers that are obviously not mine. Then I took the paper out. That fixed the printer more or less. It started churning again. Then another paper comes out – it’s stuck again! It’s not mine again!

Who the hell sent all those papers. The people here send them obviously. And when the papers are stuck. Some people fix the print, some people ignore the printer and thought, “I guess I’ll just print later, it’ll get fixed by someone else.”

Often, the person is me. I have to fix the printer before I print nearly every time. This time I send my stuff to print. It seems that it’s my turn already. Excitedly, I stared at the paper exit tray to see my fresh pieces of printed papers arriving.

And the machine stopped. No paper? Nope. Stucked? Yes. I opened the printer parts and check all over. Followed all instructions and even invented my own instructions. Basically there is no stucked paper. Damn it. My paper is stucked and it’s invisible to me.

What should I do? What should I do? My paper’s stucked and I have no more work to do.

That was when I thought, “I guess I’ll just print later, it’ll get fixed by someone else.”

  2. sky: This may be due to a bug in WordPress. I have 2 links in my post – //beconfused Blog » december//growth

Once WordPress detects a link, it will try to inform the URI that you are writing something about it. In the case of my previous post (december//growth), I include links of my RSS syndication links. This links gotten pinged naturally due to the way WordPress works. But what is strange is that when it gets pinged, WordPress somehow acknowledged the post to be why//blog which is my very first posting. It is likely to be a WordPress bug.

As it informs my post why//blog, it would be “commented” or pinged, and when something pings that post, WordPress will extract the partial content and link back to the original post (december//growth) in a form of a comment in why//blog.

Confusing shit. But that’s how it all works.

The printer has been fixed! Whoever this kinda soul is. I helped out too by the way. The duplexer has a problem and I fixed the duplexer! Now I can print two sided! :D

  4. dgj: Oh trust me, I almost opened all parts of the printer, I detach the paper tray, the duplexer unit, unroll the all knobs in hopes of seeing a paper come out. I think I tried everything. Printers are such mysterious creatures.

  5. “HP”? as in Hewlett-Packard?
they make nice computers, but crummy printers, lol

  6. aurora_starfire: I think their printers are rather good, but occasionally these duplex units tend to have papers in them. An employee just have to be a little patient and open the printer to get the paper out and viola! The printer moves again.

  7. I wouldn’t try to fix the printer, for fear of breaking something on the printer, getting blamed for it, and leaving it unfixed.

  8. Jessica: That’s true, but if I really spoiled the printer, I will admit that I did such a thing. But if it’s really not me, I’ll say it isn’t me and someone else did it and I’m just there to fix the already spoilt printer. Sadly, this method may not work out that perfectly.
