News and screenshots of MSN Messenger 7.0 has surfaced. This time there’s alterations to the current interface. It’s more informative, although I think that the contact list needs to be cleaner.

According to Neowin.net, you now have the ability to sign in as any status you want instead of just appearing “Online”. The more exciting part of MSN Messenger – 3 Degrees has been incorporated into MSN Messenger.

3 is software that connects a small group of family and close friends, people who know and trust one another, so they can do fun things together in a whole new way. 3 is a beta test of an innovative application that lets users connect online, extending real-world social interactions.

I used 3 Degrees before, very interesting concept. But not really useful for me. MSN Messenger will do.

Some of the new features that’s seen in MSN Messenger 7.0 currently are:

* Download Packs – allow uses to download winks, emoticons, display pictures and background from MSN.
* MSN Winks – a feature from 3 Degrees that allows me to send virtual kisses to my girlfriend, lol
* Games – Microsoft offers some premium games that’ll probably tempt you to pay for the games.
* Nudge – this shakes your conversation window. Just acting cute. You can send a nudge to your pal to add some vibrancy to his or her screen. Oh well.
* Deluxe Display Pictures – animated display pictures (possibly in GIF).

Currently the build version is reported to be 7.0.0205 and carries the beta tag. The options menu has been updated too. Some new options have been added. A very nicely done window for you to customize emoticon is there too. It’s great basically.

I love to see this version in my computer soon. It is expected to go into beta on November 11 and be released as late as February 2005 together with MSN 10.0.

Screenshots are from Neowin.net. Do pay them a visit. :)

[Update: Neowin.net's screenshots has been removed at the request of Microsoft.]

  3. It’s going to be like Yahoo! Messenger, you can sign in with your desired status instead of “online”
