My father just refuses to pick up the phone. Every time someone is home and there is a phone call, he just ignores the phone call until someone else picks it up. What the hell is he thinking?
Actually, I did quite the same too. But only when my brother is home since most of the phone calls belong to him in the first place. But my father refuse to pick the phone up when I am home too and trust me, I don’t have much phone calls through that phone line. I get most of them through the mobile phone.
It gets terribly annoying when it rings and rings and rings. He know it’s annoying, he yelled at me to pick it up. I went out of the kitchen to my living room right in front of him. Yes, you heard it right – right in front of him – to pick up a telephone that used to be 8 meters away from me and just 8 inches away from him! Just a difference in mathematical units can actually result in much a difference.
Okay, that’s fine. So I picked up the phone and it’s my aunt on the phone and she’s not looking of any of us.
Then there was another phone call. This time on my mobile phone. I picked it up quickly and answered it.
A second after, the house phone rang. Since I am on the mobile phone already, I naturally ignore the house phone since there is someone else at home. That someone else proves to be quite useless and simply don’t answer it.
It just rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rangand rang and rang!
Damn, it was annoying. And trust me! The house phone is still just 8 inches from him. Eventually, his stubborn nature gave in and he answered. My call on the mobile phone ended. The call he picked up ended too.
Him: You never pick the phone up!
Me: Yes, I was on the mobile phone! How can I attend to the house phone?
Him: You have 2 ears for what?

If it’s one of my parents I’ll answer since they’re calling me, but for anybody else I usually won’t answer since they’ll just want me to take messages for somebody else.
