Years ago – actually – year 2001, a tragedy occurred in the United States of America. It involves the collapse of the World Trader Center in New York caused by terrorists.
That sure marked history and Osama’s name become a household name. People even create jokes out of him. This reminds me of a story [true of course, you guys know I don't lie -evil laughter-].
Long before today, in the heart of Singapore, there is the almighty Victoria Concert Hall. It was a school band; I don’t remember what school’s it is. But it’s a symphonic band. Benedict invited me there. His friend is also there, I don’t remember her name, it’s Something-Hui. Something-Hui brought her 30 year old cousin with her. They were great people, all musically-inclined. And me? Oh, I don’t know much about symphonic band. Er.. Nice brass.
So the music went on and on. Frankly speaking, I was getting a little bored. It’s not that the concert sucks or anything, it’s just that I don’t know how to appreciate them. Benedict, Something-Hui and her cousin think it’s great.
Finally the band reached their last song. The audience rejoiced when the title of the song is announced. It’s like their trademark song, you see. And I was rejoicing too, over another thing though – it’s ending soon. Great, I can go home and use the computer.
The last song end, it’s even better! Now, I am even nearer to going home. That was then the crowd screams that now-much-feared word – ‘encore’ [Post: encore//encore]. Great, now I have to wait more.
I didn’t wait long though, it’s a short encore. The show ended. Splendid. Show ended and the audiences are shouting their friend’s name in support. It’s a school band concert, it always turns out this way.
Shouting things like:
- “Tan Ah Kow, wo men yong yuan zi chi ni!” [Translation: Tan Ah Kow (that's the name), we will support you forever!]
- “Low Xiao Ying, wo ai ni!” [Translation: Low Xiao Ying (name), I love you!]
Others were simply shouting their friend’s name at the top of their voices. That was then Something-Hui’s cousin screamed at the very top of his voice – “OSAMA”.

by Mr. Dew (Sep 13, 2004 at 10 PM)Maybe he was talking about the movie “Osama”, and not bin Laden. Maybe he liked the movie? But it doesn’t explain why he’s shouting it at a band concert.
