I have lunch in my school, Singapore Polytechnic, nearly everyday. I eat at this food court, that food court, never really have a preference. I think the food in my school is not bad.
I recall two and a half years ago, my friends were encouraging me to go to Ngee Ann Polytechnic, citing the good food as the prime reason. I tell you, those statements are crap. Then someone tells me that Ngee Ann Polytechnic has better looking girls. That may not be crap, I don’t know, it’s a very recognized statement.
Well, anyway, back to the food. You see, the reason I start OneNote and write this topic is that I tried sirloin steak today. And why is it worth blogging about it? Well, because it’s the first time I tried steak. Without any knowledge about steak, I just queued up and ordered some steak while my girlfriend hops to the Indian food stall to get some roti prata.
I declare the roti prata as my favorite local breakfast by the way. Roti prata is something like an Indian pizza, I don’t really know how to explain it well. It’s crispy, round and flat. It tastes good after dipping into curry. Personally, I would prefer to tear a piece of roti prata with my fork and spoon and submerged that piece into curry sauce fully.
And the reason why I chose steak over roti prata today? Well, I never seen a school selling steak before. I later discovered that sirloin steak is supposed to be the better quality one too. The stall keeper asked me if I want it “medium” or “well done”. Something like that. Without much knowledge, I requested for “medium” just because I heard steaks are better not served fully-cooked.
My food came after a while and I returned to the seats. I look proudly at my six-dollar steak and start cutting it. My first steak experience.
It taste surprisingly good. I never tried steak before, my girlfriend claimed it’s good and can be sold in restaurants. Would I eat steak again in school? Well, probably, but not often, it’s rather expensive. In fact it’s the most expensive meal I had in school! The next time, I’m just going to eat my old favorite – roti prata.
