Why â??Kujira Juuni Gou â?? Whale No.12â?? If you hear the lyric, I am sure you could not find any connection with any whale (kujira). I made a little research via Google and here are the facts I found, which should explain why the song is named so (Whale No.12). (By the way, as a punkish band, Judy and Mary normally sing nonsense song - I mean, the lyric.

Basically, the explanation on Whale No.12 is based on these 2 links:

http://volanteinc.exblog.jp/m200...-05-01/ #4838068

The CD single of â??Kujira 12 Gouâ? was released on 21st Feb 1997. (This song was also used for Honda Life Dio commercial advertisement song in Japan).

According to Takuya, guitarist of Judy and Mary, this song was actually made to encourage Japan Soccer Team to win in 1998 World Cup held in France. The message of this song is â??Give a fight, Japan!!â?

See the lyric:

[kurakkaa to chiizu to wain ]
crackers, cheese and wine..
Cheese and wine are France most famous items.

[kondo koso te ni iretai]
we must not loose it again this timeâ?¦.

This is actually refers to the Tragedy at Doha in 1993, where Japan drawed with Iraq, which made them failed to go to US. You should read this to know more about the tragedy. http://footballjapan.blog14.fc2....-entry- 533.html. So, this time, in 1998 in France, we should not make the same mistake as in Doha, we must never let the victory slip again from our hand, we must obtain the victory.

[dorufin kikku de shibirete mitai na]
I would like to be numbed (amazed) with the dolphin kickâ?¦

Players kick the ball, and spectators amazed/numbed with players amazing performance.

So Japan team, please show a performance that can amazed me!!

[ougon iro no tabibito ga matteru]
Gold-in-color tourist is waitingâ?¦.
In my humble opinion, this is probably refers to the White people (France people), where white people normally imaged as having golden/blond hair.

Why No. 12 ?
No. 12 is the number for the supporters.
Why Kujira (Whale) ?
Japanese eat whaleâ?¦so it means Japan.

So, Kujira 12 Gou is actually a song, from a Japan supporter, to the Japan Soccer Team, to win in World Cup 1998.
