I remember the time in secondary school when most of my friends would spend their spare time play a game called Magic: The Gathering. I have no idea how to play that game. I tried to understand and failed (at least a dozen times). It is one of the most complicated game I have known.
On Friday, Benjamin and Shawn brought their cards. The former reports to have around 500 of them, and the latter, 800. They are sure very rich. As far as I am concern, these stuff are really expensive.
We played outside the squash courts. Yes, you see it right, “We”. Benjamin, Shawn, Yong Liang, Yu Zheng knew how to play the game. Pei Shan wants to play it too, her first time playing Magic(: The Gathering). And before I know it, I was in. Pei Shan and I played as a team, without having to know any of the rules at all. Shawn helped as quite a all. In fact, he sees all our cards.
So these people went on to summon creatures, enchanting each other while Pei Shan and I look on helplessly. Problem is that we need Land and Mana (so-call magical energies) cards before we can start calling these creatures. We ain’t got any Land cards and only 1 mana card. So, Pei Shan browse through the deck a little, or rather the whole deck. Cheating? What cheating? She then rearranges a Land cards to be the next one we draw.
It’s our turn, I acted confused and drew a card and show it to Shawn. Shawn says “Put it down”. I place it on the ground.
Then it’s Ben’s turn. And what should we do? Oh, we went on to rearranging our cards. This went round and round and round. No one notice that we do some rearrangements. That’s because they are too busy chattering about their creatures and stuff.
We start summoning and enchanting. Shawn’s out of the game. Benjamin’s out too. That leave Yong Liang, Yu Zhen and us. We have the lousiest cards in our hands frankly. We managed to stay in the game for so long simply because they never attack us directly.
Not for long though. Yong Liang attacked us this time and we are immediately off the game. That was it? Yeah. That’s how lousy a team we are.
Yu Zhen won eventually and the conversation for the rest of the day revolves around Magic.
Not much badminton today.
No Sports, Just Games.
